Sgt Pepper (the song) - revealed
Posted by Mousey on 14 June 2010 - 11:10am.
Sergeant Pepper's Lonely Hearts' Club Band - a great song.
Lurking on the internet are assorted links to the multitrack master. You can search on YouTube or for example go straight here to listen to the lead vocals
I know this stuff has been around for a couple of years but I only just discovered it and I feel really strange - like the secret cupboard has been opened. And the secret is - they could write, play and sing!
If you like this kind of stuff, and I appreciate that many people don't want to break the spell, you can sniff around for Bohemian Rhapsody and I Heard It Through The Grapevine.
I'm desperately trying not to break any laws here Fraser.

I never would have thought
that there was that much reverb on the lead vocal. It sound quite dry on the record. Amazing.
Surprised me too
amongst other things
If you can find the lead guitar + horns track check George's guitar sound - so beautifully dirty! Such a great guitarist.
If you load them into Garageband, Logic or Pro-Tools
you can remix the track to your hearts content.
Stevie Wonder's Superstition is a good one to look for as well :-)
Yeah been there done that
Just didn't want to get too technical for folks just interested in da music
Fiddling about
Are there any free tools a boy could download to play about with this stuff? I tried using Audacity but quickly ran out of options.
Garageband is free
if you're running a Macintosh.
Sadly, no.
I am a slave to the 'Soft machine.
You'll find them all (cough)
over at the wonderful Plain Or Pan...

Use search. Seek out. Download. Enjoy.
(I really need to update things when I get the chance)
You have a great blog
their Sir. I never thought i'd be using Phil Spector as an excuse to my Wife for not doing the hedges. Surreal.
Nice blog, Mr Spector
Just to let you know: I work beside a friend of yours. He speaks highly of you and your blog! Tall chap, name starts with "G"...
You going to Macca on Sunday, by the way?
I've just amazed myself
But playing the YouTube link, at the same time as the real thing on iTunes, and then nudging the pause button on both to get them in sync, means I get to mix the backing track and and out. Cool
