Geri Halliwell.....
...for me
I just realised...
wasn't she the annoying presenter of some dire TV music show a few years ago? I keep wanting to say "Naked News" but I fear I may be getting my subscriptions crossed? She just looks familiar although somewhat slimmer...
"Naked City".
Although, I never thought she was annoying, I always really liked her. The book's terrific, BTW.
Mmm
I found her deeply annoying on Naked City, but rather admired and liked her writing.
I almost wanted to hate the book after the saturation of coverage about it, but am half way through it now and I want to kiss and cuddle her for about a month for writing it.
Is it the kind of book
a man could buy his wife as a book to read on holiday?
As long as you're prepared to read it too.
Because you should. It's very very very funny and very very very true.
I will read it
but I would normally get it for the kindle. If Mrs LB were to read it I'd go for the 'proper' version.
A good holiday book...
...easy and quick to read and in bite-size chapters.
EDIT I have, coincidentally, just spoken to my childhood best friend who happened to mention she was reading the book (and loving it like everyone else who has read it apparently), who points out I didn't find her deeply annoying on Naked City, but was just deeply jealous. This may be true, as I had a shocking sense of entitlement and never liked people my age (indeed, slightly younger) being more successful than me.
Hard copy ordered
Thanks for the comments everyone.
Absolutely
er indoors loved it, and is off to hear it read aloud at Waterstones in a bit...
I have just done that...
Kindled it for the FPO to read on our holiday I mean.
ME TOO
Completely but completely loved the book. I'm going to have to read it again.
Yes, that's the one "Naked City"!!
dunno where I got "Naked News" from...
That would be
that *cough* premium channel's late night news round up.
Ah right...
so I can say "just waiting for Word favourite Caitlin Moran to appear love" - when Mrs Retro catches me flicking through the late night Sky premium channels!
Errr, I don't really call Mrs Retro "love" and yes, I do have Sky and if anyone has an issue with that then I will be at the next London get-together! ;-)
Sky subscriber
and I bet you eat animals. Your card is marked.
Shit! The next massive meet up
will be like Rourke's Drift!
Veggies!
Thousands of 'em!
She's been on the podcast..
..a little of her goes a long way.
She used to snuffle up cocaine like the stuff was going out of fashion (apparently)...
The drugs get boring
And maybe it has?
Actually
scrap that
I agree with Hannah
and I have only reached the birthday baguette memoir *sob*. It's waiting for me to stop not having fun and pick it up for a goodly spell. Pretty much everything that comes out of the Moran woman's face is ace. Rabidly, militant feminists would probably rage horribly about this book as well. Which also pleases me greatly.
