Screaming Beavers & Dazed and Confused
Posted by Mark Godden on 14 June 2010 - 11:22pm.
When:
12/06/10
Where:
East Cheshire Hospice, Macclesfield
Comments:
1st up: Dazed and Confused. Cracking rock covers - REM/Killers/KoL/Fleetwood Mac/Dire Straights/Undertones etc., no Zep. Highlight was Sweet Child of Mine. Well worth a night out if you can catch them in the Macclesfield area.
Then: England v USA on a big screen. Poor picture and inaudible commentary, but we could see enough to tell that England were diabolical. Unfair to blame Robert Green - if the rest of the team had played properly, England would have scored a hatful and his mistake would be forgotten.
Finally: Screaming Beavers. Soul band well known and much loved in the local area. Some blues as well, and they absolutely nailed 'Love Shack'. Band and crowd all having a great time.
The Audience:
8-80, but mostly 30-50. Everybody knows all the old soul classics, which is nice (but how? - they don't get played on the radio any more). Mostly dressed in red & white.
Food & Drink:
Real meat burgers & real beer from Storm Brewery. Oddly, some people were drinking lager. Wierdos.
It Made Me Think...:
The lead guitar in Dazed & Confused is outstanding, but he is playing in a pub band. How good do you have to be to make the 'big time'? I've seen both these bands several times, and will do several times more. What a wonderfaul evening
