Scorsese film about George Harrison

Mousey's picture

This looks good - especially seeing it was made with Olivia's blessing.

Scorsese does have a thing about music - while Shine a Light was a bit unnecessary The Last Waltz is a classic, and on a different note also his "My Voyage In Italy", a doco about his early experience of Italian film growing up in NYC is superb.

Also the music in "Casino", which Robbie Robertson also worked on, is brilliantly put together - mostly existing songs but very cleverly edited into the soundtrack.

Yup, I think it could be worth a look

but if i might do a Mike Giggler (via email) on it

"how's Scorcese going to shoehorn Gimme Shelter into this movie"?

Really looking forward to this. And in the meantime:

George was responsible for the best The Rutles cameo, I think.

Nice trailer.

I do smell serious revisionism though. Macca is correct on the hair point. Best looking Beatle, Beat accent too.
And i am not fan.
OOAA.

And it also features...

...Quintessence producer John Barham, who produced/arranged on several of George's records. We Quintessence fans MUST take every opportunity to remind the world...!

'Esher, Ringo, Moses, Guaranga' indeed, Patrick...

...let's have the one that actually did make it past the pencil and paper stage, shall we. Produced by the great John B, from the first Quintessence album in 1969:

I must have mentioned to you before...

that I had a maths teacher at school called Nigel Peace who had longish hair and worshiped Quintessence. He was always name-checking them in class, but sadly I don't think there were many converts.

Edit: I've just realized that I've been misquoting the lyric to that song for the last 25 years.

But the thing is Patrick...

...nobody else has been quoting it *at all* in the last 25 years, so good for you for at least giving it a go!

I feel the need to start another Quintessence thread soon, so do please join me there for a bit of moral support when I do: Quintessence threads can be a bit like Mayflies - glorious, dazzling, wondrous and gone before you know it...

Nigel Peace? well, short of being called Blissful Bob he had the right name didn't he?

I do miss him just being there

That'd be me...

...spreader of Happiness.

Thing is, I'm due to be watching it with a friend (unavailable for the cinema showing) on DVD a few days later. At risk of the Massive playing the combined role of Frasier Crane, what should I do...?
