Entertainment For Lively Minds
Schools out, let's have a disco!!
Posted by Dave Amitri on 1 April 2010 - 5:49pm.
I'm leaving work for the long weekend and feel like dancin'. So I'm changing into my cuban heels, white 3 button hipsters, wing collar electric blue shirt and and heading off to the Discotheque stinking of Brut. First song to get us up on the floor is Ottowan with D.I.S.C.O. Who's spinning the next disc to help us boogie the night away?

Let's keep that groove up an' runnin'..
with..
Kool and the Gang - Straight Ahead
The best Disco tune in the world - ever!
EWF
I'll Bite
And of course...
This is delightfully unhinged
I have this heat-frazzled and equally unhinged track
as the alarm tone on my phone... wakes me up with a smile on my face (sometimes)
Could this get any uncooler? Yup!
Here's Wonder Mike,Hank and Master G!!!
And for those more sophisticated Disco's...
Not sure if this counts but it's lovely anyway...
There's A Party Going On Right Here...
Oh yeah
uh-huh
The Gap Band
Freak Out
Not as
well known but quite, quite wonderful and life-affirming in it's own way...
Do The Hustle!
followed by:
Disco Sucks? I think not....
Great warm up
but now let's REALLY dance
This ROCKS....
like a BASTARD!!
Ok, you got some moves
But now it's time to burn it up
NOW you're talkin'!
Ooh yeah, baby.
Get down.
'ave some
"Star Wars Theme / Cantina Band" - Meco
The best possible disco version of the Star Wars theme - especially with that juicy "Cantina band" bit in the middle:

Here's Garth Marenghi lookalike Meco Monardo...
...and the full band...
i don't normally go for slow songs at the disco
But this Shakatak number works really well at the end of the night.
I'm knackered
Shall we go for a curry?
What, no Disco Duck?
This one's my shake your groove thang favorite
Instant Party!
Behold, this outtake is, as far as I know, the earliest surviving COLOUR footage of TOTP anywhere.
I know it's monstrously sexist and that it's probably only survived in some BBC technician's private stash for wholly pervular reasons, but this girl is having a fantastic time in her own private pop heaven. Good for her...
That was an audition tape for the cameraman concerned.
It must have been. After he got the job, the next twenty years of TOTP consisted of him trying to jam his lens up skirts and down tops. It's why we watched..
There again, watching the clip once more, it's of a pretty, well-endowed blonde girl in a low-cut top, very short skirt and long boots, dancing in a provocative fashion.
As far as I'm aware, most TV cameras would point at that without the aid of human hand.
But what's
Alan Partridge doing in the video?
Babecam
That cameraman now has the job of picking out babes in the crowd at international football matches.
She's mine
tonight. If only my back would stop aching and my feet would stop bleeding.....
My mum
warned me about girls like that.
You make me feel.....
Mighty Real
Brit It Up Chaps!
"Love Train" - The O'Jays
Try out some new moves...
Soul Train
I bet there are several famous people in that dance line.
Don't stop 'til you get enough
Why would you?
One of the most exciting records ever made
I was gonna go for a slowy...
But let's keep the groove going...
Can you feel the force?
"You Don't Have to Go" - Chi-Lites
As interpreted by Pan's People
Sentimental songs say so much
Nice to see the beat's still pumping
I Was Made For Dancing
