Runaways - Latest ish
Just got round to starting to read the Runaways article in the latest issue and took my eyes off Cherie's bum for a second and squinted into the audience, like you do. Well, half way down the right side of the picture is someone who looks a lot like I did in those days. I was wondering if anyone knows where this particular photo was taken? I was indeed in the audience (at the front, too) at their gig at Leeds Uni. Could it be......?
Anyone else seem themselves (or someone who looks like them) in photos in mags, films, tv etc from the distant past - obviously anyone with the slightest hint of 'celebrity' is discounted from this question.
I was once convinced that I must have been on the tv when highlights of Leeds v Celtic in the European Cup semi-final of 1970 was shown, as I was right at the very front when Celtic took the throw in that lead to their goal - but later viewing on video has failed to show my presence.
I did once see a neighbour in the crowd behind Peter Beagrie doing a summersault (how do you spell that?) at Notts County in 4-4-2.

Zummerzault
if you live in the West Country.
There's a famous Ramones picture...
...taken by Ian Dickson of the band onstage at Eric's in Liverpool in 1977. If you look really hard you can see a little bit of my head. Julie Burchill was in front of me & stood on my foot several times. In stilletoes.
Alternatively, you can see me on the current edition of The Football League Show (now available on the BBC iPlayer...) applauding vigorously after Oliver Bozanic puts the mighty Shots 1-0 up against a frankly woeful Shrewsbury...
Runaways - Leeds Uni
I was at that gig! Up in the balcony though and took some snaps with my instamatic. I did have the part of an extra, strolling about in a dance scene in the YTV series In Loving Memory. Got the family around to watch it and all they saw was the back of my head. Never got to meet Christopher Beeny either.
Is it not just typical of those Word beggars. You wait for yonks to have a sweet young female musician on the cover and when they opt for the chance to feature Ms Currie she is a cartoon, and not one as wonderful as Jessica Rabbit.
I'm a little disappointed
by the lack of response to this!
Dear Messrs H & E, do you know where the photo was taken? I would be most grateful if I could find out if it really is me. I've never been in a famous music mag before
Right County, Wrong Venue
It's Sheffield University in October 1976.
Ah - thanks Fraser
I must admit, I'm a little disappointed, as it does look a lot like me. I wonder if he looks like me now (what's left of the hair is now white, and with a beard)?
Stones in the Park
An American acquaintance was reading an article about the above in, I think, Mojo many years ago. I was telling him I'd been at the gig and he was giving me that look which says
"Yeah, like everyone saw the Sex Pistols at the Hundred Club"
I grabbed his mag and whilst pointing to a photograph I was telling him where I was sitting when to my absolute delight I was able to say
"I was sitting there because" pause for effect "there I am"
Looked decidedly dodgy but definitely me.
