Roxy bassists
I've just watched the recent BBC Roxy Music documentary and the thing that struck me, apart from how good Siouxsie looks, is who are all the different bassists? Has there ever been a band with such a clear line-up (Ferry, Mackay, Manzanera, Thompson, Eno/Jobson) where one part of the band has been so interchangeable and unimportant?

Unique group
Fantastic rhythm section with one drummer (mostly) and scores of different bassists. And lots of their best records were made by the bass line. This one, for instance. Great revelation for me in the documentary was seeing Paul Thompson nowadays. What a hero!
another interesting point
that came across from the documentary was the current baldness of previously permed, Mr Tibbs, which lead me thinking has massive hair loss afflicted everyone in Adam and the Ants?
ANT RAP
But Gary Tibbs is the only one to get a name check in a Top Ten hit.
"Marco, merrick, terry lee, gary tibbs and yours truly
In the naughty north and in the sexy south
Were all singing I have the mouth"
For God's Sake
Don't ask Morrissey that question.
Johnny Gustafson
previously plucked the bass for The Big Three of course. Check out their 'Live at the Cavern' E.P. It's pretty darn hot.
And it's a pretty good list of names, at that!
Many of those would make an LP bearing their name worth a 2nd look, thinking Porter, Gustafson, Wills, Wetton, Tibbs and dear old Alan Spenner: o how he is missed, gone these last 17 years. The pairing of him and Neil Hubbard (on rhythm guitar) was a staple of my 70s and 80s listening pleasures, from the Grease Band and Kokomo, thru' to Roxy, let alone the legendary Dick and the Firemen.
More members than Tap
Just double-checking the list for Joe Mama Besser, Stumpy Joe Pepys and Ross McLochness.
What Happened?
to Graham Simpson?
