Rocking Rocker Rocker's Rock Songs
Posted by David Wright on 1 May 2010 - 8:32am.
I'd kind of forgotten about this Strait's classic until my brother played me a clip on his old video recorder last night. I think the version from Alchemy has the edge but this is still good.
It made me think of all the classic songs with rock related themes in their title;"Rocking In The Free World", "Rocking All Over The World" and "We Will Rock You" etc etc.
Bit of an obvious thread I know, but let's rock out this bank holiday weekend and hear your nominations for the best songs with a rock related theme in the title.

Am I allowed this?
First choice would be Jerry Lee Lewis' version, but this is more than good enough:
Excellent
It's a welcome addition Lucas, great choice!

One cover version...
that Westlife will never attempt.
Several identikit amoebas rise from stools... "I'm a rocker / I'm a roller..."
Queen - Brighton Rock
I know they are not the most popular band around these parts, but this is a good 'un.....
Rock The Nation
One of the best opening numbers of any album, ever
Lets get trains involved....
there will be more if you insist
there's about 60 music tracks on my hard drive with 'rock' in the name.
Rock On
Keep them coming Harold, Tommy Vance would be proud!
Here you go then...
Lord help me
I've got that on vinyl somewhere. Loved it because the the Vance show. Back in those pre-internet days when you had to ring up the BBC to find out what something like this was called, which I did. My room mate at college used one of their older albums to soundtrack his home movie - sounded like a heavy/prog Benny Hill theme. Now Mr Morse is the fret twiddler for Purple....and not a particularly good fit either for mine.
Dunno why, but here goes....actually I do have a reason, it's quite amusing to see some of these tracks/artists up against each other, and it would only ever happen alphabetically.
AC/DC - For those about to rock, Hard as a rock, Rock and roll ain't noise pollution, Rock 'n roll dream, She likes rock and roll, Rock n roll train, Can't stop rock n roll, Rockin all the way, Whiskey on the rocks, let there be rock, Rock n roll damnation, rocker
Bob Mould - I hate alternative rock
Chuck Berry - rock n roll music, Sweet little rock n roller
Crowded House - So you want to be a rock n roll star

Toad the wet sprocket - Hobbit on the rocks
XTC - Sgt Rock, Rocket from a bottle
There. I don't feel any better though.
And the nomination for best track with 'Rock' in it is....For Those About To Rock. Probably single handedly responsible for 50% of my hearing loss when those bloody cannons go off at the concert.
Wobbly footage...
But solid rock!
Solid Rockers
I wondered where Knopfler nicked the title for his Solid Rock from! I Didn't realise Dylan had a song with the same title!
How's about..
Or...
Hmmm...
Lou Reed - Rock and Roll
The Shazam....

the answer is As usual
"Rock and Roll Suicide"
Keep on Rockin Slade
from my all-time favourite live album
The obvious being:
Rock n Roll - Led Zeppelin:
The "not everyone'll like it" choice is;
Rock n Roll - Status Quo
And now, The Spinal Tap Moment:
The Majesty of Rock
Johnny Winter
have quite a selection of songs with rock in the titles, but my favourite title by far has to be; Rock and roll, hootchie koo!
A Packet of 3 (+1)
Many to choose from

Rock me all night long
And let's not forget that, in blues vernacular, 'rock' is often a euphemism for another four letter word...
A couple of late additions

Whereas, this actually is a Kiss song
