So...
Pete Townshend by El Greco
Van Morrison by Goya
Richard Thompson by Raphael
Mix up
This is already quite possibly my favourite Word blog of all time - well done, sir!
however, I fear that you have got your Richard Thompson and Pete Townshend attributions mixed up. The clue is in the snozz.
You have to give some artistic licence to the artists...
This was a rejected version of El Greco's painting of Townshend...
Sorry Patrick, but THIS is Richard Thompson...
Fresh from the Calvary Cross, and with his '1000 Years Of Music' chums in tow as well.
And this..

Have they ever been seen in the same room?
Charlie Drake is his Dad
for real
The look on his face
tells me he's sad, maybe his boomerang won't come back?
An obscure one...
Moondog by William Blake
Hmmm...
Paul McCartney by Egon Schiele
Isn't this
the very picture which inspired the Dame's pose on the cover of "Heroes"?
I think it was this one
Also referenced on the cover of "The Idiot"
ERICH HECKEL “ ROQUAIROL” 1917
Yes, you're correct
although in my defence I know that he was/is a huge admirer of Schiele. Looking at the Schiele picture again, it's obvious that it was, of course, the inspiration for the character of Mork from Ork. Nanu Nanu, and indeed, Shazbat.
That's Nick Cave.
Possibly on his way to a birthday party.
If there was a thumbs-up gesture
Then it would be beyond debate.
Ummm...
