Rock 'n' Roll Museums
I've just listened to the new podcast featuring Mark Hagen and enjoyed the rock'n'roll museums tangent.
In Nashville last year I went to Musicians Hall of Fame & Museum (http://www.musicianshalloffame.com/) which is a wonderful place dedicated to session muscians and backing bands.
The oddest exhibit was Luther Perkins' knitting (http://www.flickr.com/photos/nigelsmith99/2363517243/in/set-721576042611...). Apparently the only way the guitarist could put up with being cooped up with Johnny Cash on the road was by getting out the needles and wool.
Another great item in the more lavish Country Music Hall of Fame & Museum (http://www.countrymusichalloffame.org/)was this piece of taxidermy owned by Hank Williams - http://www.flickr.com/photos/nigelsmith99/2385606868/in/set-721576042611....

What's round on the ends and hi in the middle
I haven't listened to the podcast yet (it's on my pod ready for the drive home tonight) but I can heartily recommend a special visit to Cleveland to the Rock'n'Roll Hall of Fame Museum. We only allowed ourselves a day there, we were engrossed for a full 7 hours by which time our feet hurt. It was fortunate that the special exhibit at the time was about U2 which neither of us have any interest in so we just had a look at the trabants hanging from the ceiling and went off to browse the "gift shop" which included an quite decent sized record shop with CD and vinyl. I would love to go back.
The country music hall of fame museum in Nashville is good too.
