Thanks for posting

Good piece in Telegraph

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/northamerica/usa/7704729/Storm...

From which this excerpt says it all:

A sometimes savage critic, John Simon, wrote that she was "ageless. ... tempered like steel, baked like clay, annealed like glass; life has chiselled, burnished, refined her."

R.I.P

Her life story reminded me

of Josephine Baker with whom she shared the experiences of racial prejudice. I remember reading about Josephine Baker and one story in particular. In 1951 she was refused entry to the Stork Club in New York, a club where the show-biz elite congregated. Grave Kelly was already in there and upon seeing what was happening to Baker promptly got up, took Baker (whom she'd never met before) by the arm and stormed out with all her guests, swearing never to return. She never did.

Classy dames all round. The past is indeed another country.

She outlived Sheriff Clark

by one year or so, I think.
