And so much more to his back catalogue that just Baker Street.

THE HUMBLEBUMS

...were a wonderful outfit - this a simply gorgeous tune.

Yes much more

In spite of it's outwardly "soft rock" veneer the City to City album from whence Baker Street is a heartfelt thing of beauty without a duff track within.

He had a hard life,

but made some soaringly great music; I know there's more to his work than Baker Street, but the City to City album, and the follow-up, Night Owl were an essential part of the soundtrack to my travelling twenties; everywhere in Europe, those records were well known.

Condolences to those he left behind.

Agree wholeheartedly

City to City and Night Owl were a soundtrack to my twenties too. seems like the stories circulating last year had more substance than we were lead to believe. Another good one gone.

Where I Belong

The last track of 'Can I Have My Money Back'always seemed to me to be from the heart. It is even more poignant now.

Each day is harder to get through
My head it is spinning, I don't think I'm winning the race
Whenever I think of the future
I just see the one thing that might bring a smile to my face.

To be where I belong
Is the force that keeps me going on.

Sometimes life seems to slow down
I try to move faster 'cause disaster is hot on my heels
Maybe I don't have to worry
Perhaps I'll keep learning concerning the way that I feel.

To be where I belong
Is the force that keeps me going on.

Each day is harder to get through
My head it is spinning, I hope that I'm winning the race.

Night Owl

I've had this one on heavy rotation this evening. The lyrics are utterly sobering in the light of yesterday's news. I'm finding it quite hard to listen to actually.
