Ridicule is nothing to be scared of...

FreakGene's picture

I've probably missed the point on the article on Adam Ant in this months word but what was it all about?
Is it to say he's nuts or that he (and the people around him) can be a pain in the arse? It just seemed to me to be a bit of a non-article. Sorry Mr Ellen, not having a dig, just curious/baffled. Or is it just me.

I was

a bit confused by the article as well. Maybe it was a consequence of the chaotic circumstances in which the interview was conducted. The upshot was that he has a new album coming out, I think. Whatever, I wish him well, he was a great pop star of the type we see to little of these days.

When I was at Waterstones

waiting to meet Keith Richards, Adam Ant came up the stairs with his girlfriend/ wife and a liitle pocket dog expecting to be let through to see the gnarled digited walnut of rock but was turned away.
His stock has fallen.
He looked fab though.

It was all a bit upsetting last year.

Adam Ant was holed up in Portsmouth. He played a church charity gig and went off on one, ranting about everything and nothing before locking himself in his hotel room. Nice men came and took him away for a rest.

My thoughts exactly

Did Mark Ellen only get about five minutes with him, because there minimal quotes? Interesting piece, but I wanted more.

What actually happened there?

Confused me too...

I was looking forward to an interview with him to see where his mind was at now, felt very baffled and short-changed at the end of the article.

Adam and the Antidepressants

Anybody else apart from Adam and myself felt totally flattened by Prozac et al? I've recently come off the stuff(if you watched the news tonight you'll have seen the different brand names-all prozac) Put it this way, after 14 months of reading this noble Masseeev, its only today that I feel up to actually joining in! Yes,it took some temporary pain away, but doctors actually say they want you on it for at least a year!BMC sweeties at £7.40 a go, lovely. This stuff is lethal-if it can make me, who my dear departed mum used to refer to as 'that absolute gobshite'so passive and diffident then it is bad ju ju.Hope no one else on here is feeling bad right now.It will end, promise.Nice to cheer you all up!

Adam Ant - On The Ropes

Adam was this week's guest on Radio 4's "On The Ropes", with John Humphrys.

Should be on iPlayer...

Agree

This bloke deserves to be listened to.I was never a huge fan-wrong demographic-but he gave huge pop pleasure to many and as I said before, know a tiny bit about what he's been'treated' with by thequacks.Good luck to the old white socked fella.
