Recommendations needed re September TV and radio
Posted by Old_Nick on 26 August 2009 - 4:23am.
Can the massive please give me some hints as to what I should DEFINITELY try to watch or listen to while I'm in the UK (from Australia) for a few weeks in September? I'll be on the Isle of Wight so I know that live music is unlikely, but I may get to see some TV or perhaps even hear some radio.
Thanks,
Nick

Live music is unlikely?
So you're unaware of The Bestival that's happening on the IOW when you're there, one of the country's best festivals by a long margin?
Just in time
for the Beatles season on BBC 4.
True Blood
It's probably on all over the world, if you've not caught it, do so. It's fangtastic. (Did you see what I did there?)
Adam and Joe
Return to BBC 6 Music this weekend. Catch them if you can on Digital radio, Satellite/Cable or Either live as it happens stream or listen again via the BBC iPlayer. Saturday 9 - 12 am.
As mentioned above, here is a link for Bestival.

I wouldn't worry yourself
There's crap all on, unless you're a fan of things like Waking The Dead, Marple, Merlin, Benidorm or Strictly.
There's a couple of new comedies that look semi-hopeful, Hometime, about a woman who's failed in life in London and moves back to Coventry to live with her parents, and The Persuasionists, about life in an advertising agency starring Adam Buxton. But don't hold your breath.
And there's nothing American on the horizon except Harper's Island, but that's already been axed Stateside, and Modern Family about three very different families shot Office-style, which has potential.
In case you miss it in the main blog
here is Later... news.
Muse, Jay-Z and Foo Fighters are set to be on the new series of Later With Jools Holland.
The 10-week series returns on September 15 on BBC2 on Tuesdays and Fridays.
The first show has Muse, Florence And The Machine, Alela Diane, Lyle Lovett and Jimmy Cobb. It also stars Jay-Z, Foo Fighters, Dizzee Rascal, Maxwell, Mika, Gladys Knight, Ramblin' Jack Elliott, Andy Williams and Shakira.
MoTD & 4OD
If you like football then Match Of The Day is a very British institution and you might be lucky enough to catch one without Alan Shearer on. Apart from that, the Autumn schedules are starting in the next couple of weeks so whatever is on now, won't be on when you come over. Try and see something with Charlie Brookers name on the credits, maybe "Screenwipe" or "You Have Been Watching" I would arm myself with a laptop and catch up with some shows on 4OD where you can see things like the complete "Peep Show", "The Inbetweeners", "Adam & Joe", "Absolutely", "Nathan Barley".
Belated thanks, everyone
VERY belated thanks for all the ideas, everyone, much appreciated.
