Very sad to hear about the passing of Britain's first (and possibly only?) rock 'n' roll artist. His work with the Clash, NME and many others was inspirational.

Oh no!!
What a sad loss, he was a great, funny cartoonist who hit the nail on the head ever time. His dispatches from the Clash tours and his 'Armagideon Times' work for The Clash was especially memorable
Having said all that, I'm not sure he was Britain's first Rock 'n' roll artist - what about David Oxtoby's 'Oxtoby's Rockers' show in the mid 70s. Oxtoby wasn't as funny though :-)
Sad day indeed
Another legend. Can some of you clever buggers put up some of his work on here?
Take a look at...

...or maybe http://www.raylowry.com/Cartoon%20Artwork.html would be better :-)
Ah!
Ok. I'll give you that one.
But didn't Da Vinci invent the electric guitar?
sad news
he was a decent writer too - I remember some pieces done for the Face in the mid 80s.
I loved the Lowry cartoons
I loved the Lowry cartoons in the NME they were part of my youth. Very sad to hear of Ray's death.
The Lone Raver
The Lone Raver cartoons from Lowry were one of the best things about the NME and punk for that matter. They always made me laugh outloud. Its not a good year so far.
I think you may be confused
it was The Lone Groover, and
aaaaaaaaargh
Gremlins.
I think you may be confused.
Surely you're referring to The Lone Groover, and that was Tony Benyon's work, not Ray Lowry's!
