Radio Anytimes

Here's a couple of radio things you shouldn't miss – and no longer have to miss – thanks to Radio 4's Listen Again service. This is Sue McGregor's meeting with the cast of "Withnail and I", as enthused about by Mark Ellen on this week's podcast. And this is the latest programme in Matthew Parris's excellent "Great Lives" series featuring Peter Hook and poet Simon Armstrong talking about Ian Curtis.

fantastic stuff

i heard this the other day on radio 4 and can heartily recommend too - wonderful story of an equally wonderful film - one of those 'alignment of the stars' things when cast, crew, plot and circumstances all collide in a beautiful way... the fact that the producers hated it and wanted to scrap it only makes it better... ah what do the suits know, eh?

strangely am off to see the legendary danny (a.k.a.ralph brown) tonight in a church in kemptown in his role as member of the fabulous brighton beach boys - they're playing pet sounds AND sgt peppers back to back, both albums in their entirety with full brass and string sections - saw them doing it last year and was completely knocked out - they nailed 'em both, no mean feat, i'm sure you'll agree.

well worth a look if you can get a ticket
