Punk Rock Christmas Songs
Posted by Mr Drayton on 18 November 2009 - 8:47pm.
I'm looking for some punk xmas songs - in the pure sense in the class of 76-79, and maybe a couple of years after. I know the Banshees did one as a B-side, Patti Smith did White Xmas and the Greedy Bastards* did a couple. Any others you care to remember?
*not really a punk band.

SLF - White Christmas
(bloody awful, though).
The Fall's Hark The Herald Angels Sing is worth consideration too, I'd say.
77 Santas
You could always have a trawl through the extensive lists and links at the 77 Santas Christmas songs blog:

Have fun!
Not many I can think of ...
The Boys (As "The Yobs") did a Christmas album.

The Ramones - Merry Xmas (Baby I Don't Want To Fight Tonight)
and Joey Ramone did a cracking version of It's Christmas (Baby, Please Come Home).
Just Can't Get Enough (New Wave Christmas Hits) is a bit later, but does have Captain Sensible :

Having been beaten to the SLF response
Silent Night - The Dickies
Merry Jingle - The Greedies (Phil Lynott, Steve Jones & Paul Cook)
and lets include The Darkness (Christmas Time (Dont Let the Bellend) or something like that
NOT REALLY PUNK
but - Thanks for Christmas by The Three Wise Men ( Andy Partridge, Colin Moulding and Dave Gregory)
The Damned
"There Ain't No Sanity Clause" almost fits the date range.
"You can't do the stoll with snow shoes on, can't twist in skis"
When the snow flies I want to hear "Living White Hell" by Sufin Dave and the Absent Legends on the record "In Need Of A Decent Haircut." I think it was on Crammed Discs back in the day.

Good luck finding it. I made an MP3 from my rekkid if anyone needs.
Also...the Vatican Newspaper's famed rock critic, Father Guido Sarducci, also released a Christmas song back in the punk age. You can find "I Won't Be Twisting This Christmas" at fine MP3 stores...or atleast CDbaby.com
Thanking
you all. Appreciated.

Not Punk
It's not musically "punk" at all, but you have to admire Lindstrom's chutzpah in releasing a 40 minute (that's not a typo: it's four-zero!) version of Little Drummer Boy. A manageable - and enjoyable - 4 minute edit can be downloaded here.
