Tonight, BBC4 has a Latin music theme.
The part that I will be Sky+ing (other recording methods are available) is Ry Cooder & The Chicken Skin Band, in a concert from 1977 recorded for The Old Grey Whistle Test

I have this...
...on an old videotape or a CD-R from a long time ago. Because it was originally on tape the quality isn't very good so it was great to see it again digitally mastered(or whatever it is they do to old film).
Ry Cooder is another of these fabulously original artists who would never get anywhere if he was starting his career today. In celebration of this fantastic show I put on his covers CD "Chicken Skin Music" this morning. Tex-Mex and Hawaiian(sp?) arrangements of old standards....feckin' magic!! It's on Spotify if you want a listen.
Flaco Jiminez is the accordian player....he's marvellous too! Here he is adding his *Norteno* flavour to Dwight Yoakam's "Streets Of Bakersfield".
