Public Service Announcement

BBC 4 repeat Nick Lowe's session recorded at St Luke's Chapel last year this Thursday at 11pm.

It's a cracker of the first order. For those without Sky Plus (me) the videoplus number is 4153431.

I watch the skies for us all.

God Bless Iplayer

Although my Tivo will be setup for it it will also be downloaded to enjoy.

Missed him at Cornbury due to the GLW insisting we see Paul (yawn) Simon

A shame

Since...

a) he was magnificent, and

b) his set was done and dusted at least 10 minutes before Mr S deigned to show his face.

Sorry.

b)

Bugger!!!!!

Praise for BBC4!

The Nick Lowe show was wonderful last year....I won't put up a spoiler in case you didn't see it.

In the last couple of years they've shown Chuck Berry, Loudon Wainwright III, Ray Lamontagne, Cave/Hynde/Cale, Sringsteen(Seeger Sessions), Ryan Adams and my favourite show, Gillian Welch and David Rawlings.

Along with Transatlantic Sessions, documentaries of T. Rex, Johnny Cash, Emmylou Harris and many others I can't remember offhand....this is the perfect channel for me, though I can imagine why it has no appeal for younger viewers.

Get it on your iPod too

It's quite literally fabulous! One of my favourite recordings of last year.

St Lukes

I grew up five minutes away from St Lukes, when it was an empty shell of a building with no roof and the hiding place for the local drunks.

Got the shock of my life when I saw a James Brown concert recorded there a little while back.

Tickets for St Lukes

Do you have be a BBC employee / record company employee / friend of the band or a journalist to get tickets for these gigs?

I've checked BBC ticketline and the St Luke's site and never a sniff of tickets being made available to us "punters".

Carl Parker | 29 July 2008 - 11:47am

Confounded

I've just had at look at BBC ticket line. There are tickets available for St Lukes! Friday Night Is Music Night tickets are waiting to be snapped up. Mind you I didn't check to the dates to ensure it is being performed on a Friday.
