Pro Valentine's Day Songs (free stuff)
Posted by Southern River on 12 February 2009 - 7:49pm.
As a laydeeeee I'm always wary of some rather pathetic attempt at VD romance (ahem) and while I'm not the day's biggest fan I do appreciate several gallons of something alcofrolic or at the very least a gesture that shows some sort of effort.
If clicking on a web link can be described as effort I'd be more than happy to get a download of this sent to me (as long as it was accompanied by a very tangible and expensive gift). It's a free Valentine's Day download of a track from the new Handsome Family album (yipee!)called Darling My Darling.

Great News
I love the Handsome Family. I have to say that I thought them pretty much a male preserve having failed to convince any females of my acquaintance.
There is hope!
The Handsome Family are my favourite band.
Whenever I've persuaded friends/colleagues at the time over the years to come with me to a gig, they (a) were all women, and (b) all loved them.
Thanks for the tip about the free track, Southern River. Can't wait for the new album.
By the way - don't know if there are any (more?) London-based HF fans reading this, but the upcoming gig in May is in Islington Academy. Could there possibly be a less suitable venue?? Gah.
Love the abbreviation VD Romance
It's a Tom Waits song waiting to happen, sod Love at the 5 and Dime (Nanci Griffith) it's Love at the Clap clinic.
(Am I showing my age, VD is perhaps what is more correctly called STD these days, which still makes me think of telephones. Ask an old person.)
