Politicians are all the same

Simon Moffatt's picture

Nick Clegg, the new Lib Dem leader, was given a gentle grilling on Five Live this morning. Here's the only part that really need concern us:

Nicky Campbell: Your Facebook page lists your favourite music as Johnny Cash, Led Zeppelin, David Bowie, Macy Gray, Shubert and Bach.

Nick Clegg: That's right.

Campbell: So what's you favourite Bowie album?

[long pause]

Clegg: Changes

Campbell: Ah. The compilation.

Clegg: Yes

Campbell: So basically it's his greatest hits, then?

[short pause]

Clegg: Yes

B'd to R, as they say. He thereby lost the slither of credibility he'd gained by being the first party leader I'd ever heard state that he didn't believe in God.

Right now on Five Live..

....they're inviting your calls on how you think he's handled the job thus far. Last night ITV Sport were asking Robbie Earle what he thought of Fabio Capello's performance so far.

It wasn't

even called 'Changes'. Wasn't it 'Changesonebowie'? And I notice that he spelled 'Johnny Cash' 'Jonny Cash'. The poor deluded fool.

Facebook Faux Pas

He's also written on his own 'wall'. Dear oh dear oh dear. This will never do.

Oh

and sorry to be so pedantic but, whilst we're on the subject of spelling, just noticed 'Eric Burden' on the quiz. I know...it was probably a typo....you're busy people...

Thanks. And rectified.

Not everyone's a rock obsessive

Give him a break. Not everyone's a rock obsessive. And his list seems more authentic than Gordon Brown's laughable claim that he rouses himself in the morning by playing the Arctic Monkeys. Lying gimp thinks we were born yesterday. Oddly enough, I can believe that David Cameron's favourite album is The Queen Is Dead, given that he was a student in the mid-'80s.

A Godless Nation at last!

A party leader that doesn't believe in God? Here here, get him elected. I don't think anyone with firm roots in one religion should be in a position to lead a multi-cultural society.

I know it would be nice to get someone in who's clued up on music, but hey, if they're gonna do a job like this they probably don't have that much time for such leisure pursuits.
