AIOTM

Have you tried the new Richard Herring one AIOTM? It shows definite promise. The other new one that I've just tried this week is the Michael Legge one which is a bit more edgy than Adam & Joe would want to be!

Legge

Saw it in the listings but haven't downloaded any yet - would I be right in thinking it a bit like Collings & Herrin (if you've heard that one) in style/subject?

Very similar

They are clearly fans of the C&H podcast because they keep referring to it. The premise is the same but the in the Michael Legge podcast almost all the humour comes from him with his friend realy only there to provide someone to bounce off - I'm not trying to demean that, it's a vital role in this type of podcast and seems to be done very well.

Cheers for that

More inclined to check it out now if I find a spare hour.

Dave Gorman

There's a new podcast started up this week from his new Absolute Radio show on Sundays. I've not listened to it yet myself, but I thought the few weeks earlier in the year when he stood in for Frank Skinner were pretty good.

here a few I like at the moment

http://www.wnyc.org/shows/radiolab/

http://www.thisamericanlife.org/

http://www.themoth.org/podcast

http://escapepod.org/

And this is a good one for finding new podcasts: http://speechification.com/

I'm generally steering clear of recommending pure humour podcasts because humour is so subjective but this might appeal to people: http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/news/world/us_and_americas/us_elections...

I see the OP has been negged

at time of writing.

Mr Twang has politely asked for recommendations while very mildly suggesting A&J don't shake the peaches on his tree

So - an avid A&J fans hits the neg arrow and runs away

We may as well include buttons that say "nuh nuh nuh nuh" and "ooh - and my dad's bigger than your dad".

The arrows have got to go

Completely agree

They are just being used for pointless and juvenile nonsense, unbeffiting of the spirit of this site. Perfectly polite and reasonable posts are degraded out of nothing more than laziness and spite.

Negging

Yeah... Saw that negging and thought it a tad small-minded.

Just for that I've poss-ed (?) the OP.

The BBC

podcast directory has something for everyone (I'm sure many are aware of it but if you've not visited it's worth a look).

You could always try mine - Podrophenia

Only made 5 so far - but in essence it's me and mate choosing and chatting about tunes based on a different theme (animals, summer)for each podcast

You can grab them from my blog

http://planetmondo.blogspot.com/search/label/podrophenia

Or via iTunes if you prefer
http://itunes.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewPodcast?id=3231447...

We had Martin Gordon (ex Sparks and Radio Stars) and Chris Constantinou (ex Adam's Ants and now a Wolfman) introducing tracks on the last one..

Is worth it for the Hasselhof sketch alone this month. "I'm looking for freeeeedom!"

rolling about I was.

Back on the BBC ones

I quite like Jon Richardson (6Music) and Rhod Gilbert (BBC Wales).

0
kidpresentable | 16 October 2009 - 2:16pm

Thanks

For the Rhod Gilbert tip - I did not know he did a podcast and I love his stuff.

Danny Baker is great, if only the BBC would give him a show where he could re-visit his All Day Breakfast Show themes, now that would make a great podcast.

I love Frank Skinner on Absolute Radio, nothing on earth would get me to listen to Dave Gorman - if anyone wants to start another 'a long way on very little' debate he would be at the top of my list.

Danny Baker

I was looking forward to this but had to give up half way through, I couldn't listen due to his irritating giggling "sidekick", I just found it really unnecessary. I didn't think he needed any cronies in the studio with him.

I really love the Football Weekly podcast with James Richardson though, it's the only one I've felt comes close to The Word one.

Retro Man | 16 October 2009 - 3:44pm

Oddly enough

I was listening to his BBC London show as I read this thread. I think Baker needs people to bounce off of - callers, cronies, guests. I've found the R5 footy shows too thin and repetitive so far, and was speculating that it would benefit from another "team" member. I've never heard DB broadcast solo - it's either been with Danny Kelly, or Amy Lamé / Baylen Leonard/ David Kuo who did the podcasts and still do BBC London

these two podcasts also contain some really well

crafted material. Don't be put off by the genres:

http://podcastle.org/

http://pseudopod.org/

(they are made by the same team that make http://escapepod.org/ which I recommended earlier on in the thread)

Real Time with Bill Maher

If you're fascinated by US politics and culture then you'll love this.

Adults having adult conversations about the issues of the day, interspersed with sharp humour. Maher is a pothead, atheist lefty who delights in skewering those (left or right, but mostly loony right) who he deems to be a menace to human progress.

Podcasting highlight of the week.

And it's an HBO production. Need I say more?
