Planet of the Apes

hey_mr_c's picture

Is it wrong for a 41 year old man to be so obsessed with the Planet of the Apes saga that he hunts out musically related items and even goes to the extreme length of creating his own mix ?

Just watched

Rise of the Planet of the Apes last night. Quite good.
But to the original question, yes, you are sad.

Erm...

Maybe a little bit, but we've all got our obsessions. Ape on!

"Troy, Matt Parker here, ever hear of Planet of the Apes"
"Err, the movie or the planet?"

Never enough "ups" in the world for this clip...

Just genius

"I hate every ape I see from Chimpan'a' to Chimpan'zee', you'll never make a monkey out of me"

Fact - Simpsons fans - Planet of the Apes is the most referenced and parodied movie in The Simpsons.

David Hepworth IS Dr Zaius

The grouchy yet wise old ape that knows too much

(similar ginger hairstyle and posture also )

Mark Ellen is obviously Cornelius in that set-up too

Now! Fight Like Apes!

As someone who spent his earliest years yearning to be General Urko, I appreciate this

Also: Planet Of The Apes - best use of cuicas in a movie soundtrack? I should think so!

It's worth Googling or YouTubing...

"twilight zone planet of the apes" - some years back, some creative soul, inspired by the fact that Rod Serling wrote the original film script, edited down the movie into a 30-minute Twilight Zone episode, in black & white, with a scarily sppropriate Serling intro... it works incredibly well.

The opening music from Escape From The Planet Of The Apes

has always been a favourite bit of movie music, but I'm blessed if I can actually follow how it goes, time-wise...

Have a listen here

Can anyone here tell me what time this is in? I can sort of follow the bit where the wah-wah guitar comes in, but otherwise it's all over the place to a musical nuffie like me.

The Mahavishnus

Great musicians but not renowned for their good looks, although don't I recognise Gaz wotsisface from Supergrass there?
