Peter Green

When:
15th May 2010
Where:
Spring and Airbrake, Belfast
Comments:
Billed as Peter Green and Friends this was a different and in my humble opinion a better show than when I saw him last play with Splinter Group in 2003. Blues numbers came thick and fast. Peter took most of the vocal duties but shared some with his rhythm guitarist Mike Dodd. Although Peter's voice may be quieter and he has no discernable interaction with the audience his guitar playing remains majestic, especially demonstrated while playing "The Stumble". From the quietness of "Dark End Of The Street" there followed a storming version of "Oh Well"(the sing-a-long moment of the evening)which blended into "Albatross". The encore was "Black Magic Woman",which was well worth shouting and clapping for.
The Audience:
Majority were 45 plus with a smattering of 20 somethings. Lively, responsive and appreciative of Peter Green's return to Belfast.
Food & Drink:
No food, drink from the ever busy bar.
It Made Me Think...:
Mike Dodd said at one point during the concert it was like having Peter Green playing in your living room. Because of the sound quality and intimacy of the venue he was right. What a nice thought.
