Perfect!

Stephen Cadman's picture

Last night I was honoured to attend, what has to be one of the most memorable gigs of my life. Sometimes things just fall into place and last night was one of those nights! The venue was a small cafe in a place called Leigh, about an hour and a half drive north of Auckland, New Zealand.
The band was Crowded House.
Neil and co have been rehearsing songs for their forthcoming album and took the opportunity to road test ten songs along with some CH classics in a wonderful setting. Finn was clearly in a fantastic mood as he saluted the 200 or some people with a class of single malt. What a night, if the live performances of the new tracks are anything to go by, the new album will be a stonker!

Crowded Joy

You lucky thing, wish I had been there. Have you any clips etc?
Do you know when the new album is out? What was the new material like? Cheers. How did you manage to be in the audience?

Dangerous word to type, "stonker"

I used it once, or at least I intended to. Never again. The "o" key is right next to the "i" key. I claimed it was just slippy, er, sloppy typing but the damage was dine.

It's so good to hear...

...that Crowded House are a going concern again.

Time On Earth was overshadowed by its mighty predecessor - Together Alone and also by memories of the sad death of Paul Hester. Being one of those albums that reveals its charms over time, it never really got the plaudits it deserved.

Did any of you guys ever hear.....

....Glenn Tillbrook sing Weather with you and other Crowded House ditties on his solo extracaganzas of recent times. Sort of makes you think where that vocal sound just may have come from first??????

You were lucky!

Seen Mr Tilbrook as few times over recent years and never heard him do a CH cover. I saw him do 'Jimi Hendrix'* on an accoustic once - that was a sight to behold. He even played it behind his head, though refrained from setting it on fire.

*I think it was Purple Haze but my addled memory may well be wrong.
