Johnny Rivers, who effectively "discovered" and launched Jimmy Webb, also did the original of the Four Tops' "Do What You Gotta Do". I prefer the Tops take on it, but I prefer JR's "Phoenix"

The 1966 original version of the '68 Four Tops' smash Walk Away Renee was by white boys The Left Banke.
I think it's much better.
