On telly tonight...
Posted by Simon Hoyle on 29 January 2009 - 8:12pm.
Whilst looking to see what's on the telly tonight, I stumble across this...
Paris Hilton's British Best Friend
ITV2, 9pm
"Socialite Paris Hilton crosses to this side of the pond in search of a British best friend to party with her when she is in the UK. She will put 12 hopefuls from across the land through their paces to test their ambition and drive. In LA, Paris holds a leaving party and says goodbye to her precious dogs. Once in the UK, it is time for the 11 girls and one guy to undergo a makeover before Paris subjects them to a gruelling interrogation. Who will be the first to be eliminated ?"
I'm sure there's a more pointless programme but right now I can't think of it.

hmmm
is there a more pointless person than Paris Hilton?
Apparently yes...
...the twelve ironically-named "hopefuls" who want to be her friend.
Wouldn't it be fabulous TV though...
...if the one guy was Mark Ellen?
I believe
she is partial to Love Trousers videos
The man who was once known...
...remember, as 'Yummy Mark Ellen'
The joke is on us...
because she's raking in the dosh and lots and lots of people seem to be intrigued by this paragon of airhead no-talent vacuousness.
I find it revolting
that on the day John Martyn, a man that can truly be called a genius, dies, more column inches tomorrow will be dedicated to this Hilton shite than will be dedicated to the passing of one of the greatest songwriters this country has ever produced.
I don't blame Hilton for this. I blame the brain dead idiots who seem to be fascinated with everything she says and does.
Maybe...
...if there is to be one good thing to come out of the coming of the second Great Depression, it might be that the cult of the celebrity, the vulgar display of wealth, the whole vacuous bling culture which has infiltrated life in the 21st century .... maybe it might start to be seen for what it really is ... obscene.
Damn
It clashes with Piers Morgan visiting the very wealthy in Dubai on BBC1. Spoilt for choice really. Obscene v crap.
No surprise that Danny Baker on iPlayer won this evening.
no surprise that
going out for a fairly boozy meal won over turning on the TV. Come to think of it, I haven't watched any TV since Xmas.
Predictable
Life at Bruised Villas is rather predictable. Mrs Bruised (as is her wont) took control of the controller and set it to 118 forcing me to stalk off upstairs in a sulk cos the CRAP that was on was too dreadful for words. I wish I could say too dreadful for Word but I finsished the last edition at the weekend and am now stuck into the Wisden Cricket Monthly. Not even a podcast to listen to. Humph. Happy Thursday to you too.
