Ok You Hipsters, Let's Have Some New
To counterbalance the inevitable and let's be fair, justified Beatles overload and with a view to stopping the blog tipping over completely into the murky mists of time, I ask the following - What are you listening to that's current?
For any of the blue rinse brigade (you know who you are) that means NEW as in poppin' fresh - not just new to you.
As is traditional and proper, I'll start it off with this little slice of pure pop joy by Just Jack (woah! Come back!) Give it a chance, you might just like it...
The officail video is embedding disabled so I've included a little acoustic version. Take your pick.
And please reply with one of your own.

a great tune btw.
Cor!
In my defence, you posted that on a Wednesday and as everyone knows, Wednesday night is business time.
"And Wednesday night is the night that we usually make love
Monday night is my night to cook
Tuesday night we go and visit your mother
But Wednesday we make sweet weekly love"
Blame Flight of the Conchords. :-)
Wedenesdays
will never be the same again. Every 4th Friday for me.
Well 2009 anyway
I like Atlas Sound...
...believe they have some new stuff coming soon. Love "Pop Ambient 2009" on the Kompakt label.
Hey ! I love you because...
...I saw this thread and was ging to put Deerhunter , Bradford Cox from Atlas Sound's other band. I think he's a bit of a genius.
Microcastle by Deerhunter is my favourite album since god knows when , i've played it to death and i love the Atlas Sound stuff too.
They're brilliant live too .
Check them out on youtube "Noisepop 2009"
As you can probably tell by my name
I'm not very good with "new".
The new bands I do like sound like they have been around for 40 years but I do have a soft spot for The Envelopes.
Here's another - Wild Beasts
An unusual voice - think Billy McKenzie
If you like that, listen to track 5 'We Still Got The Taste Dancin On Our Tongues' here.

Couldn't agree more...
... the new album is absolutely excellent.
Just bought this album
by The XX, and it's rather good in a kind of 80s ish, Everything but the Girl sort of way. This track isn't on the album btw.
Oh I love The XX
I really do. I love them. In fact, coincidentally I am listening to the album as I type this. They are my favourites.
The xx
have been added to the new series of Later..
Sept 29th show.
The album is, as you say, rather good

The Leisure Society
Quite enjoying this little ditty
And this keeps the summer going
2007 is new to me
I have seen the future of rock and roll and his name is Kid Carpet :-)
Noah & The Whale - Lovely stuff
is that the 1962 Gibson I can hear?
I just think this is great pop music
And for a total WTF? moment
I give you.....Rancid
Monsters of Folk
(sorry no proper video)
a few
The XX - truly amazing, sort of indie post rock pop. Nice.
The Invisible - a lo-fi English TV On The radio
The Deer Tracks - girly fronted Swedish post rock
N.A.S.A. - Hipster fuelled mad hip hop producers. Plus Tom Waits.
Olafur Arnalds - fairly new Icelandic composer. Beautiful.
Playdoe - South African hip hop / electro. "Pop Like This" especially.
Vib Gyor - Epic Irish indie. Like Coldplay but better.
The Temper Trap - maybe a little over exposed, but a very good album.
This chap has a new album
It's awfully good
Passion Pit - 'Sleepyhead'
The album is SO good. Especially this track -

Great shout
on Friendly Fires. They really seem to have something different, fabulous live apprently too.
It's a great album
bursting with energy.
He does appear to be doing a bit of 'Dad Dancing' in this video, though..
Gents, after some thought
they require their own thread. They didn't win the Mercury Music Prize so a "shout out" on the Word Blog would be some compensation. After you!
No,
after you, Sir!
Ok, not that new
but a new(ish) video - so it's in
Radiohead Weird Fishes by Tobias Stretch from Tobias Stretch on Vimeo.

The White Denim album
is superb.
Grizzly Bear - 'Two Weeks'
Better than the 'official' video
It certainly is...
...and that's a crazy video (White Denim, that is).
Mercury Winner
Epic 45 - Ghosts On Tape
Stumbled upon this at the Drowned in Sound website. I have one of their albums, but wasn't aware they had new stuff out. This is marvellous.
It's New,
but it sounds kinda old.
Heard this loads on Radio 2 recently and can't help but love it.
This isn't the best clip in the world, but here is the Spotify link if you want to hear the proper version.

Thomas Dybdahl
Bought his 'new' album today after Spotifying it. I would like to recommend it to you all. Its' actually a compilation of tracks from his first four albums and as such isn't really new, but as I'm the only one posting to this thread, I'm putting it in. Oh, and this song isn't on it, (edit - just discovered that it is on the album, it's attached to the last song in that annoying way which means you have to split them apart so as not to be furious every time you play it!! So, they are split - thankyou 'MP3 Trimmer' [great piece of software, for those of you who don't already have it] - so carry on) but it's stupendous and sounds like the rest of the album. So.
