OK. I think I'm ready.

election.jpgI'm in the mood. Last night I went to a screening of the Frost/Nixon movie. I've just finished a documentary on alleged election fraud in Ohio in 2004, The Uncounted. The internet radio is tuned to C-Span. The TV is on News 24, but I'll spend the rest of the night flicking between the Beeb, Al-Jazeera and Fox News. My browser tabs are loaded: I've got the election FAQ. I've got all the stats at my fingertips. And I have a map. The coffee machine is on. I'm in for the long haul.

Night!

As much as I would love to participate in one of those great, Glastonburyesque blogathons, I'm off to bed. Enjoy!

Am with you Fraser!

I could bore you with why this song means so much to me around election time but I won't suffice to say it reminds me of police wagons returning from picket line duty during the miners strike. Up to a hundred would pass me as I biked home from the late shift in my past life as a factory worker and Bruce was a constant (as he still is) on my turntable. We need more hope in this world. Go Obama!

grac | 4 November 2008 - 11:13pm

Following bbc news...

... online at my desk while working the nightshift.

So that makes three of us.

Surely Obama has this in the bag......hasn't he?

Nicodemus | 5 November 2008 - 12:37am

Well, time for bed.

It's looking good but it was last time when I turned in. Was fully expecting to wake up to a Kerry presidency but woke up to the grinning idiot again! Fingers crossed.

grac | 5 November 2008 - 2:49am

You can sleep sound...

... Obama almost there.

Nicodemus | 5 November 2008 - 3:39am

Almost?

He is there.

Fraser Lewry | 5 November 2008 - 4:03am

Oh thank fuck

(Pardon my French)

Stan Halen | 5 November 2008 - 4:11am

Just occurred...

...wasn't Oh Thank Fuck a former general secretary of the UN.

(Sorry – beer has been taken).

Stan Halen | 5 November 2008 - 4:15am

Will Morrissey...

... still be able to sing this?

"But where the president, is never black....... and until that day,
you've got nothing to say to me"

Nicodemus | 5 November 2008 - 5:28am

'Won't Get Fooled Again"?

I'll tip my hat to the new constitution
Take a bow for the new revolution
Smile and grin at the change all around
Pick up my guitar and play
Just like yesterday
Then I'll get on my knees and pray
We don't get fooled again
Don't get fooled again
No, no!

Yeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah!

Meet the new boss
Same as the old boss

Let's hope not......these are exciting times.

Scott Wilkinson | 5 November 2008 - 6:26am

That's it

the moron will soon be gone from the Whitehouse.

I will sleep a little more peacefully in my bed tonight

Futurenoir | 5 November 2008 - 7:12am

A wonderful day

I was very moved to hear echoes of the words of Martin Luther King and Sam Cooke in Obama's speech.

Here's to the future.

Lucas Hare | 5 November 2008 - 7:20am

To be fair Fraser

There isnt a lot to do in Lincolnshire is there?

dolly | 5 November 2008 - 8:33am

Dimbleby vs Vidal

My favourite interview of the night.

Fraser Lewry | 5 November 2008 - 9:16am

Yes....

....loved that!!

David Sutherland | 5 November 2008 - 5:00pm

Gore Vidal and his eruptions eh?

Best three minutes of the night!

Futurenoir | 5 November 2008 - 9:23am

Going to a screening...

In what way is this different from 'going to the cinema' like us mere mortals have to do? ;-)

stimpy | 5 November 2008 - 9:41am

Because...

It was in room above a pub. It was also, I hasten to add, a public, paying event.

Fraser Lewry | 5 November 2008 - 9:43am

The Kia-Ora is free

Archie Valparaiso | 5 November 2008 - 9:49am
stimpy | 5 November 2008 - 12:35pm

I didn't bother staying up to watch it...

...it'll be repeated on Dave soon
