OK Go / Muppets

chrisf's picture

This brought a smile this morning....

"OK Go and the muppets? Sounds pretty exciting. Hmm. Let's watch cat videos"

They're a dreadfully

dull band live and this seems to be cynically tapping into the love we have for the Muppets in order to save them.

Weezer at least had an original song when they used them, but this is just a rocked-up version of the theme tune.

Love The Muppets. Hate OK Go.

Well.....

... I can't say that I've ever seen OK Go live, never bought any of their albums, or am I likely to... but they have an uncanny ability to produce very entertaining videos, of which this is one of them.

Band that produces entertaining videos, the greatest TV characters from when I was growing up.... how can it not make you smile... ?

Earlier nerd rock / muppet crossover

Funnier too.

It must be Muppet day!

I was just watching this video clip before I logged on here. A video of live Muppet puppeteering taken at the weekend's D23 Expo in Los Angeles, featuring Brian Henson.

The D23 Expo is the annual Disney convention and my idea of heaven.

Ok Go

I can't see the video at work, but I agree that Ok Go are muppets.

Sampling Muppets

Credit to De la Soul for using the Muppets sample in "Double Huey Skit" on the bonus disc of "3 Feet High and Rising". Perhaps a shame they didn't make more of it:

An OKGo defender writes...

I finally caught them live at Glastonbury this year and thought they were great. In fact, the further away I get from the festival, they might have been the highlight.

Then again I don't mind bands who use a little humour and aren't embarrassed to Mach schau! (see
TMBG, Sparks etc)

By coincidence

We used some Sesame Street 'C' idents in our radio show last night, as well as tipping our titfers to this...
