Oi, you nicked our album title

Steve Turner's picture

How many times has this happened - John Martyn nicks Live at Leeds after the Who had already done it and then blow me down if those naughty Pink Floyd people don't go and steal Dark Side of the moon from Medicine Head. Must be some more around - obviously Greatest hits and best ofs don't count.

Was going to be a Caravan album, but Aerosmith got there first. So Caravan called it 'Cunning Stunts' instead. Does this count?

Also

take away the `s´ at the end and you have the Taj Mahal album Giant Step (OK, so you also have to take away the `/De Ole Folks At Home´ part of the title since it it a sort of two-in-one deal, but still!)

"When the...

...pawn hits the conflicts he thinks like a king
What he knows throws the blows when he goes to the fight
And he'll win the whole thing 'fore he enters the ring
There's no body to batter when your mind is your might
So when you go solo, you hold your own hand
And remember that depth is the greatest of heights
And if you know where you stand, then you know where to land
And if you fall it won't matter, cause you'll know that you're right"

Fiona Apple and ooh, loads of others.

Chinese Democracy

About 11 years into the making of Guns'n'Roses much-storied "Chinese Democracy", those wacky punks The Offspring put out a press release announcing their new album "Chinese Democracy - (You Snooze, You Lose)".

Naturally, Axl Rose saw the funny side and sent a platoon of lawyers bearing Cease & Desist letters. And then he promptly released the finished album 6 months later.

P.S. I Love You

Elvis Costello's 1982 masterpiece, Imperial Bedroom was originally going to be called P.S. I Love You but had to change its title at the last minute because of a soppy ballad compilation of the same name getting released the same time.

P.S.

There is also a P.S I Love You remix album by Kid 606, a new Canadian band, a movie soundtrack and a Beatles track. Not forgetting an Irish novel.
