Simply Marvelous

Quite enjoyed that. Thanks!

her album

is a pop gem and that clip is great. The problem is the name. Sounds naff as hell to me.

That is ace...

...but I simply can't warm to her. Not sure why. The name? The 'Kids from Fame' aura around her?

Eliza

doesn't come over to me as having a desperate need for success, as you get with some of the ex-stage school wannabees. Though I guess looking at her background she's more or less guaranteed success.

Frances Ruffelle

Otherwise known as Mum to Eliza. I fancied her rotten years ago.

My clip is rubbish by the way

But the Eliza clip certainly isn't.

I'm depressed now

- I'm older than Eliza Doolittle's mother.

Very good

Is that an Andy Williams cover?

I love Eliza...

...and stupidly forgot to put her album in my Albums of the Year list last week. She's responsible for the (British) single of the year in "Skinny Genes", as far as I'm concerned. I only qualify that because Cee-Lo clearly takes the prize.

No Autotune on that..

And doesn't it sound good?

I do want to go and see Paloma Faith supported by Miss Doolittle. I just fear I'll look like a Dirty Old Man.

Ok. Like more of a Dirty Old Man than usual. I'll have to wear my best mac specially. And promise to keep my hands in view at all times.

Just to

be on the street where she lives.....

Proof You Can't Polish A Turd

don't get me wrong, I love Ms Doolittle and all her works but that miserable excuse of a "tune" is just a festering pile of fetid dingo's kidneys.

Nice Oolon Colluphid reference there...

...but I disagree. I think "Fuck You" is one of the most joyous, perfect pop songs I've heard in many a long year.

I genuinely

don't understand that viewpoint. I really can't understand why anyone wouldn't like that song. It's not just that I think it's fantastic, I completely fail to see why you don't.

I'm genuinely curious - what don't you like about it?

I dunno...

I don't usually have violent reactions to songs. Normally I can manage casual indifference to stuff I don't like, but something about this just winds me up something chronic. It's not the swearing either - cos I despise the cleaned up "Forget You" version even more. I caught a brief glimpse of the video the other day and that nearly made me put my fist through the tv.

You'll be fine Lenny

Went to see Paloma Faith last night and the demographic in the hall was a suprise. Lots of yummy (and not so yummy) mummies and a lot of blokes. Average age a lot older than I expected, although I was up on the balcony. Not sure what it was like down in the mosh pit but didn't look to be too different. Nowhere near the teen fest I was expecting before I got there.

Eliza Doolittle wasn't bad and in ten years, when she's grown up and lived a bit and added a few rough edges to the voice she will be really good. Paloma had a bad throat so the upper register was shot but she's still a class act.

And interestingly she did a cover of Fuck You......

She does

seem to have a very similar style to Paloma Faith, if slightly more laid back. I'm sure she'll be hugely successful.
