God, I know.
Imagine if Wonder Woman was as boring and self-congratulatory as Mad Men. Horrible thought.
;-)
Firefly
Funnily enough I'm not a massive fan of Mad Men, I like it, but it's a little up itself for my liking too.
Hendricks will always be Mrs Reynolds to me.
Funnily enough...
...and I realise this is the "wrong" way round, but I much prefer Serenity to Firefly. Thought the format worked really well as a film, but I found the series a little dull.
Although that's likely to be my own quirk of taste: I often enjoy sci-fi films, but hardly ever sci-fi TV. I've tried Battlestar and can't get on with it, despite everyone raving about it.

Never seen
Firefly, but watched Serenity several times. Would watching the series add anything to my enjoyment of the film? It seems to stand on its own two feet OK. I have watched the first series of BSG, but I've never got round to the box set, acquired over a year ago, so although I quite enjoyed the series I've seen, clearly I'm not that enthusiastic, though I thought I was. But doesn't Doctor Who count as sci-fi TV?
Now you mention it, I suppose it does.
Well, no, of course it does. I'm pretty sure that's it, though.
I am a huge Firefly fan
Some of the episodes are just fabulous. I will confess that my main enjoyment of the series is getting spend a lot of time with characters I really like. It's as simple as that.
Before I got married
and the GLW found useful things for me to do, I spent many hours watching Startrek, in various incarnations, Battlestar Galactica (the original) Babylon 5, Farscape, and so on, and so on. But I've never been to a convention, and I don't own any merchandise, and I think Galaxy Quest is the best Star Trek film, so I think I've escaped unaffected.
As Gangle says
spending a lot of time with the characters is what I like, whereas the film, while superb and working well as a standalone is so fast moving that some of the character interaction gets lost. These people had a really good chemistry when they were working together, at least that's what comes across.
Who the f**k
is Christina Hendricks?
Has she heard of The Wombats?
Another Firefly lover here
Can't believe they cancelled it. It's a series that repays repeated watching to pick up on the little details that were lovingly crafted into the background. Such a shame we'll never get to see where it would have taken us.
Only recently watched Firefly
having thought of Serenity as one of the best Sci Fi films of recent years. I thought a couple of the individual episodes (notably "Out Of Gas") were as good as the film.
I was under the impression they had already cast Wonder Woman as I saw a publicity shot accompanying the story that she would be wearing trousers rather than hot pants. It might have been around April 1st now I think about it...
I don't think Lynda Carter featured in that "Older ladies you would" thread last year (the thread title might have been phrased more delicately than in my recollection). That may have been an omission...
Incidentally, Lynda Carter
was on some film the kids were watching on the Disney Channel yesterday. She looked hot, hot, hot!!!
this is old hat
hendrix(sic) was considered for a film re-boot(wankerspeak for tarted up old hat)..did costume tests etc..
fell through
..tv series devised instead with other actress...
fell through...
hang on though..bongo may have a musical coming on...
