Got a lump in my throat and some grit in the eye just from reading this. The programme might be too much.

My word

That's heartbreaking. I'm not a particularly sentimental sort, but I don't think I could stand to watch that program.

BBC Three gets a bit of a bad rep, doesn't it, but from what I can work out, they put on quite a lot of interesting documentaries. Sure, there's Snog, Marry, Avoid? and seemingly daily repeats of Two Pints of Lager but I think it doesn't get the credit it deserves for showing this kind of programming.

BBC3

Some of their recent docs have been pretty good. One of the reasons for the disdain (from me at least) was its (which they seem to have lost since they new schedulers/controllers) habit of The Stupid Title. You know the stuff: The Girl With Two Heads, The Ten Foot Baby, The Girl Who Shagged A Duck To Death*

There has been a couple of programmes in this series of "inspirational teenagers/young people" - and, god knows, young people get a TERRIBLE time in the media as if they are all shooting or stabbing people on a nightly basis - about a young woman with restricted growth. It made me cry, because it was, basically, about love of family. The grandfather may well be the most marvellous man seen on TV this year.

*these are made-up titles, in case you were thinking of googling.

Inspirational

It takes a unique kind of bravery to face a terminal illness with such a positive attitude, especially at a young age.

I'll make a note to watch it, and perhaps learn something.

Carpe Diem

Often as I walk to work I am worrying about my job, promotion, whether I will have a job, worrying if I am a good father and husband, worrying about getting old. My walk takes me past the cancer hospital. There is always a queue of cars going into the patients' car park.

Ruddy hell.

The onions in these sandwiches are strong today, they're making my eyes water.

Puts all sorts of things into perspective, reading of such an inspirational bloke.

Such a well-written article

Can't help but feel slightly inadequate after reading that. I could only hope that I would be as brave as him in such a situation. My sympathies to the family and friends of somebody who seemed like such am inspirational character.

Just finished watching it

This evening. Deeply moving but i tell you what he had a bloody good family and some great friends around him. Seemed like a really good fun loving guy determined to get the maximum out of life. Teaches all of us a lesson in humility.

Having just watched it is indeed worth watching a very well made film a credit to those involved.
