NOT AS GOOD AS I REMEMBER
The joys of the internet are many. The near instant access to stuff is a godsend. So the other day i was thinking of songs i used to love and hadn't heard for years and thought of The Icicle Works-Understanding Jane.
I remember it as a real hard rocking number and really loving it when it was released. On to Youtube i go and there it is. It starts in a very Jesus and Mary Chain way and then,well,it goes a bit flat for my tastes. Now this isn't a case of my tastes changing,which they do of course, It's just that i remembered it in a different way. I suppose this happens all the time with all things,Books, films etc. So my question is, Tell me something you went back to and were disappointed to find it wasn't as good as you remember ?. Old TV shows are the one that most spring to mind. The Sweeney is very slowly paced and ther isn't that much action. Not how it is remembered at all. Still great though

Still works for me
You've just got to ignore the video because – as every fule no (at least, every fule my age) – videos are rubbish apart from ZZ Top's Eliminator series and that Fat Boy Slim one with Christopher Walken.
Videos can change music in strange ways
The Long Blondes sound amazing. Truly a great band adding a new perspective on some old ground.
Then I saw some music videos and suddenly the music sounds like an above average Pulp knock off. Then listen to the music again without visuals and they're back to being brilliant with nothing reminding me of Pulp. A band you must hear but not see.
OK but...
"Evangeline" is much better, or "Who do you want for your love" (Surely that should be "whom"). And if you want riffs try "Be prepared to dream" from his album "Head like a Rock". And let's face it , the budget for the video must have been pretty small.
