Not a Randomiser at all, but kind of similar if I'm honest...
Ok folks, we've done many a randomiser and provided Hepworth and Ellen with much fine and valuable consumer research in the process but the time has come to be truly honest. Five tracks on an ipod shuffle are all very well, the results are interesting but they're not "really" illuminating are they?
But about your five most played?
I'll cheerfully begin-
1) Dayvan Cowboy- Boards Of Canada
2) Stars In Spring - Epic 45 (Cheers Word! That's from one of your CDs)
3) In MacDonalds - Burial
4) Are You Leaving For The Country? - Karen Dalton
5) All You Need Is Hate - The Delgados

Discounting the kids' influence...
Top 5, taking out those tracks that my kids have played to death:
Joy Division - Love Will Tear Us Apart
The Undertones - Teenage Kicks
New Order - Blue Monday
Low - Just Like Christmas (gets played many times a day over the Christmas period!)
If Looks Could Kill - Camera Obscura (my wife and I played this song loads when it was out in Jan 07, but I'm astonished it's my fifth most played)
Very Indie Pop I know, but
Beirut - The Penalty
Beirut - Elephant Gun
Peter Bjorn and John - Paris 2004
The Shins - Phantom Limb
Asobi Seksu - Thursday
Dunno.....
I know I could find out, but it would be random as thats all I ever use for i-pod. I know the random versus chosen pops up frequently, with eager afficianados for either choice blowing hard on their individual trumpets, but I wonder what some of the newer bloggers think about this one......
Thanks to Word
Woman in a Bar - Lloyd Cole (102)
Lloyd, I'm Ready to be Heartbroken - Camera Obscura (92)
Let's Get Out of this Country - Camera Obscura (72)
A History of Lovers - Calexico & Iron & Wine (66)
Tears for Affairs - Camera Obscura (66)
Blimey, even at 36 I'm still an indie kid at heart. Out of 6000+ songs on the pod three of the most listened to came off Now Hear This CDs. And the others were bought thanks to Now Hear This CDs.
I do listen to other music, honest.
Pretty one dimensional
Restless Legs - Half Man Half Biscuit
Vatican Broadside - Half Man Half Biscuit
Petty Sessions - Half Man Half Biscuit
The Shock Of The Lightning - Oasis
Jack Killed Mom - Jenny Lewis
I hate shuffling
It irritates the hell out of me not knowing what's coming next.
I think we've done the most played thing before, and I can't imagine mine will have changed a great deal but here they are anyways,
The Be Good Tanyas - Lakes of Ponchartrain
News From Verona - Portico Quartet
Kokoriko - TP Orchestre Poly Rythmo
Knee Deep in the North Sea - Portico Quartet
Avoun Doupou Me Douga - TP Orchestre Poly Rythmo
Benin's TP Orchestre Poly Rythmo are the greatest band who ever walked the earth.
could someone explain to me
how you do this?
Go to your playlists in Music on the ipod
There should be a dynamic playlist called Top 25 Most Played.
get iPod, go to playlist
get iPod, go to playlist menu, and fine Top 25 Most Played, it should work it out for you.
mine,
[some what skewed by that fact that i sometimes go to bed with a track on repeat.]
1)Flamenco sketches
[1a, noddy [ right, ok, my some has a paly list that gets repeated ALOT in the car. be fair he's 3, ad it does have syd barret era Pink Floyd on it.

Ta
So here goes:
1. A & E Goldfrapp
2. Clowns Goldfrapp
3. Somebody's Baby Jackson Browne
4. Mamma Mia ABBA
5. Thrown Down Fleetwood Mac
Don't trust this totally though. Apparently my most played Beatles song is Octopus's Garden!
Ah but how many times?????
Threshold Apprehension - Black Francis
In The Hospital - Friendly Fires
Your Fucking Sunny Day - Lambchop
Entertain - Sleater-Kinney
Rhode Island Freakout - Kinski
But as the most played track has been played 13 times only does this really count? What is the most times a most played track has been played? If you catch my drift?
In answer to Retropath's question - I like both. I tend to use shuffle for inspiration. I shuffle until I hit something where I fancy listening to the album (while on shuffle there will be no skipping tracks though!).
Mainly because of my little girl..
...who is 8 but has pretty darn good taste for her age..
1. Look Up From the Bottom - Cud (Sybil's very favourite at the moment)
2. Crazy In Love - Beyonce (Despite myself I like this)
3. Straight Outta Compton - Nina Gordon (mainly cos I keep playing it to people, Far too sweary for little ears)
4. Tears For Affairs - Camera Obscura (Syb's always goes straight for this track)
5. The Chronicles Of A Bohemian Teenager - Get Cape Wear Cape Fly. (Another big fav with our Sybs.)
If this was done on the most played cd then Cut by The Slits would win by a healthy mile. One cool kid we've got here.
