North-West Massive Meet Up -Friday 4th- Chester
The next gathering of the north-west chapter was agreed to be the above date and it approacheth soon.
Are we all still up for it, Brothers and Sisters? Would likely attendees please post their status so there's an idea of numbers?
The location was to be The Boathouse
http://www.beerintheevening.com/pubs/s/11/11076/Boathouse/Chester
Time-7pm onwards.
From the previous posting, the following all expressed a likely appearance -
Beany, Dr Volume, Prestonia, Pencilsqueezer, HazeyJane, Doods, Mart, RandlepMcMurphy, Dr V Waldorf, Bisto...and anyone else?
A warm welcome is extended to anyone who wants to pop along, and as "regulars" will testify, we're a very warm, friendly bunch and a lot of laughs are had.
Most Embarrassing CD was to be brought wasn't it? Beany's LP collection was peerless last meet-up, but let's see what lapses in judgement we all have lurking or artfully hidden away!
Be seeing you?

Yep
Hazeyjane and myself will be catching the slow and rickety old train from Cheshire to Chester. (Usually served by a Class 142 which all you train fans will know is aka 'The Nodding Donkey' or 'The Bus on Rails').
Given that we'd like to arrive in good time we're hoping to have some sort of picnic tea on the train which may possibly resemble the cub scouts trying to eat their packed lunch on the rollercoaster on Jim'll Fixit.
Good-O!
Looking forward to seeing you then, matey!
It's a big thumbs aloft from yours truly.
Not that I have particularly big thumbs, quite dainty and elegant in fact,It's just that they are pointed upwards as a sign of positivity.
Looking forward to meeting you all.
Oh!
I'm washing my hair that night but will try my bestest to attend the monthly meeting of the Manchester massive manics.
Hey, who you calling peeless? I resemble that remark.
Good stuff
So that's four we've got.
Any more?
I'm going to try
but i'm on an early train the next morning up the smoke to see Roy Harper.
Just pop by
there will be others, it'll just be good to see you and welcome another face to the north-west brethren.
Are there any more out there?
Would love to attend but ...
sadly can't. A friend's coming over that weekend in readiness for a record fair in Manchester the following day. My social calendar usually has tumble weed blowing across its pages accompanied by the sound of a lone church bell.
Hope to be able to make the next one - I hate missing these nights.
Enjoy yerselves folks.
Curses!
That's a shame.Where's the record fair on? May pop along there myself - anyone else from the Manchester Massive going?
Flippin 'eck
Used to love going to record fairs, spending a whole day just looking at, well, records. Not been to one for ages. FPO will have my knackers if I turned out, day after a trip to Chester.
Still have fond memories of a fair in Leeds where I rummaged through a box of 7" singles (all at 1p each!!) and surfaced with a pile of Sally James recordings. Bliss.
Record fair
It's on at Sacha's Hotel, Tib Street - £3 after 10.00

Another company have frequent fairs there too

I can't resist one, me. Once I'm in I really don't want to leave - in fact I'd rather not go in than someone say - "Well, you can go but you've only got 45 minutes..."
Thanks for that
May just pop along!
I'll be there
as will a mate of mine. Not sure of timings yet so see you when I see you...and you. Yes you.
Hallelujah!
Any word from Prestonia?
I have
with the kind assistance of one Fraser Lewry, taken the liberty of sending a direct message via the website to all previous Manchester Minglers and those who've expressed an interest in attending previous events but not been able to make it, including Prestonia.
Probably worth another blog reminder tomorrow afternoon...a lot of traffic on the blog at the moment and very hard to keep anything on the top of the agenda!
Thanks for that
Will post reminder tomorrow.
A very definite maybe
Apols for the radio silence. I might end up having to be distressingly respectable on this occasion (don't even ask...and I am still doing my best to wriggle out of my responsibilities) but am looking to attend.
Not sure about Most Embarrassing CD though. Surely such objects will have been long dumped at charity shops, or Vinyl Exchange ? But I shall endeavour.
Which charity shops?
That's where I get most of mine from!
It turns out
I'll actually be in Chester during the day on Friday so I'll be at the pub probably before 7pm.
Anyone else loitering before the alloted time?
If so perhaps we can meet beforehand and become embarrassingly drunk before everyone else arrives.
I'll be trying to get into Chester
before the allotted time, but am not sure if I'm travelling by train or driving, therefore a chaste mineral water may be the order of the day - choices, choices.
Looking forward to seeing you there.
Will see if I can get a passout
Having said that I might stay at home and wait for my direct message from Dr Volume
*taps fingers on desk*
I sent yours via Singing Telegram
to be delivered by the Nolan Sisters. They should be with you there any moment...
Mmmm
Good job I'm in the mood for dancing...
Should be there just before 7:00.
If all goes to plan.I'll be the devilishly handsome chap accompanied by a coterie of scantily clad handmaidens strewing rose petals and playing Shamisens.Or more likely all on my own-io.
How do we recognize one another? Passwords? A strategically placed Carnation? It may get a bit fraught If I have to ask blokes If they are Massive.Fisty-cuffs may ensue.
So looking forward to meeting Y'all.
Fear not! Most of us
now know each other by sight, but I normally have a copy of WORD with me and either
a) Carry it under the arm in a brisk, officious manner OR
b) Place it on the table in an obvious manner so that it can't be missed. Inevitably it attracts the attention of like-minded souls. I'd like to think that it was girl-bait, but that hasn't happened so far!
There are a few photos of us at the end of this thread

See you then!
We'll be the ones shouting
"It's your round!"
So that will be
Kunzel Cakes and Tizer slammers all round then.
Any chance of us discussing the podcast?
Sounded like a good idea the last time we all met!
I'll be there!
See you all later
Great Stuff!
Looking forward to seeing you there!
Arrrrrrr
What a splendid night!
Not arrrf!
Just how many dimples are there on a golf ball?
Funny you should arrrrrsk
