Loch Lomond
Do you reckon he meant Loch Lomond? They were both around the same time, though it's always Knebworth that seems to get the mention (perhaps it because it was on TV).
I've always wondered why that was.
I was at Loch Lomond - never been a huge Oasis fan, but my girlfriend at the time lived next door to one of the session violinists who was in the string section for those shows. We were 18, and her uncle had a work flat in Glasgow that he wasn't using. Score.
*misty eyed face*
Sorry, what was I saying? Oh yeah. Went to Loch Lomond, had quite a nice time fannying about backstage, but the show itself was pretty dull. AWFUL support.
But since it happened, it's almost as if it's been airbrushed from history. Everyone talks about Knebworth, never Loch Lomond.
Murrayfield
Sounds like you still got a good freebie there. I wasn't there but my brother went and is similarly mystified.
My first Oasis gig was Murrayfield Stadium in 2000, similarly overshadowed by the 2 nights at Wembley the week before (where Liam thought they were only doing one, got hammered after the first night and was "a little out of sorts" on the second). Murrayfield was ace.
Got any left?
I'll take one off your hands....
I guess Knebworth was never officially released.
By all accounts the best show they ever did was at Irvine beach in 1995 - try finding that anywhere.
Now that
was a show! The Irvine show came just after Glastonbury, which took all the headlines but it rocked, it rolled and it was magic! Betwixt and between the first 2 albums it was right on the cusp of them going global. I went to both shows and the Saturday night one is still the most thrilling gig I've been at. And I've seen them all.....blah blah blah.
I too have searched fruitlessly for a boot of the gig.
This looks official
which led me onto this
yeah Irvine Beach and.. that Japanese one that there's a
famous bootleg of. there's a photo of Noel crying at it, in a book called I Was There. was meant to be amazing.
there was a great review of the Oasis Irvinr Beach gig in the Melody Maker by Taylor Parkes that i recall vividly.
Me too
Taylor wasn' renowned for his love of the band so it must have been special
Now, when you say famous bootleg..ahem...do you know where one should look...?
