No more "Dollhouse"
Posted by lisbon on 13 November 2009 - 7:56pm.
Joss ''Buffy' Whedon's latest series was cancelled this week, midway through the second series airing in the States. Must really hurt after his last show, 'Firefly', getting the same treatment from the same network.

Dollhouse
Was it actually any good; it didn't get good reviews AFAICS. I only ask because I've been recording it on the V+ box but haven't watched any of it yet....
glad to be put out of my misery
I've persisted with it, but it's never really taken off. A good premise undermined by the fact that Eliza Dushku struggles to play one character convincingly, never mind a new one each week.
Starts really disappointingly
FOX wanting new adventures each week like The A Team... We've watched the 1st three on DVD to get the gist, then, last one being duff, jumped straight to an episode called 'Man On The Street' from which point Whedon and co had more control and it really, necessarily, improves. Read that the case in several reviews and comments on the 'net, otherwise, even as a Whedon fan, might have given up.
He needs to find a network, maybe HBO?, that'll give him free(r) reign from day one. 'Firefly' was really hitting it's stride when that was axed.
"Summer!"
Agreed that the first series didn't properly take off until episode 6/7 but I quite liked Dollhouse.
Summer Glau must be feeling even worse than Joss having been in at least three shows that were cancelled (Firefly, Sarah Connor Chronicles, Dollhouse).
