Wish I had been there, but was seeing Knophler instead. Was in Russel Square tube station on Friday and their was an announcement about the gig on the tannoy. Not read a bad review of the gigs, Andy Gill's in The Independent was full of praise for the boss.
I was there, Lucas - top class stuff, although I think Macca's introduced him to his colorist.
What a performance, though. He played two and a half hours straight, and hardly drew breath - and afterwards I thought that, if he'd chosen, Bruce could have managed another two and a half hours with a completely different - and equally recognisable - set.
What did you think of the Emirates, by the way? It's the first gig they've put on there (very handy for me because I only live ten minutes away).
Dare I say "intimate"? Really good venue, but the bloody 10.30 curfew and London's inability to cope with - shock, horror - PEOPLE using the transport system left a slightly irritating taste in the mouth. It's not good when the journey home lasts as long as the gig itself. Mind you, I went to see The Black Keys two days earlier and was home by half eleven, after just over an hour's set. Can't have it both ways, I guess.
Too many people trying to use tube stations at once, so let's close the stations! Third time it's happened to me just over a year, and I don't even live in London any more. Roll on 2012, right?
Anyway, back to Bruce: my highlights were Darkness On the Edge Of Town and Tenth Avenue Freeze Out , but it was equally thrilling to see him taking requests and junking the above set list more than I'd ever witnessed.
He was excellent on Friday as well when he also took requests. Sad to say (from my point of view) was that one request he picked up was Cadillac Ranch, which in my list of Springsteen songs I want to hear comes very near the bottom and Point Blank which from our spec at the back had just about the worst sound of the night. All the intimacy of the song disappeared in that vast space between the stage and our seats.
However did anyone else notice the sound going very strange during Candy's Room? It was as if the sound man had collapsed over the desk and sent all the faders into the wrong places.
I live a couple of minutes from The Emirates, and touts were giving away tickets for nowt on Friday night. And when I say 'nowt', I mean literally nothing. I couldn't go so I reluctantly turned down the freebie.
I noticed that on Saturday, God bless them I hope they lost a packet.
The Emirates was fantastic for a stadium gig. We were on the Club level and were 20 steps from the bar with 1664 £4 a pint.
The Boss was on top form and gave the lot. Just how good is Nils?
According to the ticketing sites and judging by prices on eBay, it was sold out both nights. Good to see the touts getting their fingers burnt.
Personally thought the Emirates was a dreadful venue but I detest stadium shows as a rule and will only reluctantly go along if it is an artist you very rarely get to see indoors. Too residential (which kept the noise levels far too low as part of the license) and extremely impersonal, with nightmare exits from the stadium (as any Arsenal fan will attest).
Concert itself was, meh, OK. Springsteen still delivers a well rounded and value for money show. Not a patch on the O2 show or any of the Seeger Sessions dates...
Lovely t-shirt bought though of a very young Boss with Danny Federici!

Tsk.
It's Knopfler, not Knophler. Incorect spelling in multiple posts. Get it right, Wright.
Incorect Is Incorrect Too
Will go to the back of the classroom.
Incorect (sic)
Deliberate?
Yes Lucas
Just testin for hardcore Diar Straights fans! Will never spell Knopfler's name wrong again.

My thoughts on the Emirates

Cadillac Wazz
So called by me because it's the ultimate "ideal moment for a nip to the toilets" song.
Was it full?

Possibly not
There were a lot less empty bottles at the back near the loos, so there may have been a few spaces.
Touts giving away tickets
