They performed it on Des O' Connor with the Beach Boys wearing Hawaiian Shirts with Des doing Air Giutar and Headbanging. No clip on YOUTUBE i'm afraid.
This was about 12-15 years ago and i still shake when i think about it.
At the same time Status Quo attempted to sue BBC Radio 1 for not play listing the single or their latest album (Don't Stop). As expected, they lost the case against Radio 1."
day out from the old folks home.
I like as Mr Ellen would put it "The Mighty Quo" though not enough to buy their records mind - but there is far worse out there. Anything involving Simon Cowell spings to mind for starters.
One of those bands that does exactly what it says on the tin.
Is the relegation of a once great band to backup singers for Status Quo. Only Carl and Brian Wilson look as if they're actively fighting to preserve their dignity. To me it's far more offensive than anything Simon Cowell was involved in.
Anyone heard any of the Pet Sounds podcasts? What Mike Love says in the video one, given what else he's said about Brian Wilson's greatest work, turned my stomach.
gawd bless 'em. That record makes me want to melt my own ears, but they did do some great stuff back in the day. Saw them a couple of times 24 years ago or so, and they were a great live band... their gigs were such good fun then, before they became a joke.
Could it get any worse?
well there's slavery for start! I think we may be getting a bit precious any song worth it's salt can survive a duff cover or too and the world would be a duller less cheery place without the Quo.
Mike Love not war,
Play 'Down Down' really loud and then say you don't don't like the Quo.
As Samuel Johnson said, 'Anyone who is tired of the Quo is tired of the Life'.
It's not as though they've killed anyone is it?
Great record I agree. So is CAROLINE. But What about- Rock 'n' Roll. Living on an Island, In the Army Now and Something About You Baby I like. All truly Awful. But Fun,Fun,Fun is the nadir of Popular music.
Down Down, Caroline, Rollover Lay Down and Whatever You Want we must all be truly thankful.
Besides, back in the day (as I believe the young folk like to say), the Quo knew the importance of a great intro.
Rick Parfitt
I occasionally find myself queuing behind Rick Parfitt in Budgens.
He likes Hovis Wholemeal, but the loaf appears to be the small Nimble-sized type that you can't really imagine making a sandwich with.
Does he sing...
"Roll over, lay down" to the granary baps?
an extra ingredient

Radio 1
Also isn't Radio 1's refusal to play it one of the reasons the"Quo! threatened to sue the BBC.

From This page- http://www.nostalgiacentral.com/music/statusquo.htm
"An ill-chosen version of Fun Fun Fun in 1996 had The Beach Boys relegated to harmony backing vocals and did little for either band's reputation.
At the same time Status Quo attempted to sue BBC Radio 1 for not play listing the single or their latest album (Don't Stop). As expected, they lost the case against Radio 1."

Incredible
that Brian Wilson ever bounced back from this; much less with Smile. Now that's a renaissance.
Not quite as bad...
Wow
I'd never heard that before.
I just love this song:
And of course:
