Nice, thanks for the tip off.....

......have downloaded NPR and i'm trying to record Alison to MP3. Might need to download Audacity. That is a track I want to keep. Very good.

Not the first time

He also sang it on the Nick sings Elvis, Elvis sings Nick show in San Francisco last year. How do I know? Some criminal mastermind put it on the Internet for downloading to similarly curious crims. It's very good,

Interesting

On the Simon Mayo show (so obviously pre-recorded) he gives an impression of nervous embarrassment and the interview barely scrapes the surface. It's only when he sings Alison that he drops his guard a little.

Chatting away to Bob Boilen, well, they have met before but he's relaxed and animated, talking about not only his own musical heroes but also his personal life which rarely gets a mention in interviews.

Time to change your album designer, Nick?(insert smiley winky thing here).

Boilen can do a good interview

The one with Daniel Lanois was quite good, especially as Lanois can be right up himself whenever I usually see him, so that was a pleasant surprise. Eno, Randy Newman, Don Was (talking about Exile remaster) and Kyp Malone were also good ones worth looking up. Others (like J Lydon esq., Bjork and Jonsi), not so much.

Nick Lowe currently chatting with the Candyman

Where Danny plays random Lowe tracks and Nick reminisces about them. He's brought his guitar, too. Available on the iPlayer.

Download this wonderful bit of free software

www.nerdoftheherd.com

radio downloader

Transfers any show from the BBC Iplayer to MP3 format. I use it all the time.

Thanks

I used to use IPDL but that stopped working a while ago. I suppose I could record directly from the soundcard but that relies on an uninterrupted stream which isn't always the case at my location.

Beats me why the Beeb are so strict on downloading yet still allow iPhone downloads, whilst NPR frequently offer downloads.

Edit: Oh great, it works!! And if you time it right you can snatch the *.flv stream from your temporary folder (Local Drive):\Documents and Settings\(Username)\Local Settings\Temp\RadioDownloader. Which means you get the original file and not a re-encoded one.

once Danny allowed his guest to speak

it was a great show and Nick was singing beautifully at times. There were a couple of cracking new songs in there.

Nothing to do with the radio etc

Just thought I'd mention in what seems to be an appropriate thread that there are some UK dates early next year - I don't think they've been on sale long, I got one quite near the front. Not sure about MK Stables any time of year but in February I expect it will feel particularly soulless - I think Mr Lowe can be relied on to inject some warmth and character.
