New: The Word 'Backstage' Podcast

word-backstage-logo_0.jpgWe're launching another podcast stream called "Backstage" which features occasional conversations with people who know how things operate in different areas of the entertainment industry. Hopefully it gives people a chance to get a better understanding and maybe passes a commute or two. The first one is with Jon Webster of the Music Managers Forum and touches on money, rights, Radiohead, merchandise and a world where record companies no longer rule the earth. Mic. famine

How come you've reached your 50th podcast without someone noticing that some of the contributors can't be heard? All we hear is David and Marks yak. When someone else is spoken to they must be sitting at the other side of the room so we only hear half a conversation.

Either sit round the same table or buy a fancy new microphone.

ps. I'm not angry, just disappointed.

Hey Castro,

We've all noticed how crap the mic balance is on the podcast, some of us have even written in with helpful suggestions (eg. try to get everyone in Islington). However you have to remember these are old men, technically challenged and not given to change.
I have now come full circle and I welcome the inadequecies, it just means I have to listen to it a few times to catch it all.
These men (and women) are still, none the less geniuses.

Malcolm.

Many thanks

for the new style podcast. Thought it was excellent. The future of the music industry sounds pretty positive. The biggest problem seems to be coping with the sheer volume of new music being produced.

Excellent

Really enjoyed this. Nearly missed it though - my bookmark goes straight to the Blog so didn't see this for a while. More please! A few suggested topics:

Producers
Venue managers
Corporate hospitality - good or bad?
Session players
Songwriters

A round-table format would work well here too.

Keep up the good work DH

Cheers

Excellent too

An interesting meaty listen. I kind of liked the fact that it was just one person's experience and views in depth but I'm easy, whatever. Thanks due to Hepworth.
