Is this a new golden age of Hollywood?
The reason I ask is this...
After years of watching mediocre new releases and loosing hope, I have now seen 4 great films in a row since Christmas.
These are:
1) I'm Not There,
2) No Country For Old Men,
3) Before The Devil Knows You're Dead
and to-night,
4) There Will Be Blood.
Or maybe I'm just on a lucky streak?

In answer to your question...
no, it isn't.
Oh...
...fair enough.
There's a straightforward
There's a straightforward industry reason why good films appear in British cinema between January and the end of March. Most of the Oscar contenders tend to appear in the US at the very end of December in order to qualify for nomination. Their release here is usually delayed by a matter of weeks, so the first months of the year are usually a decent time for cinema-goers.
The real challenge is to find a decent film in your local multiplex between April and December. Of the films Nicodemus mentions above, only "There Will Be Acting" remains at my nearest picture house. Otherwise I'm stuck with a choice between The Spiderwick Chronicles, The Other Boleyn Girl, or a bunch of teen horror flicks.
Thanks....
... for that info Ben. I'll see what turns up in my local flea-pit over the coming months.
