New Edition
Just home from pit only find the new issue on my mat. I haven't spent too much time on it yet but I would like to congratulate the mag for having the guts to put Lemmy on the front cover. If I see another Beatle (last issue of Word excepted as it did promote a pretty handy dead rock star feature), Stone, or Zeppelite on the cover of a monthly I'm convinced I'll hurl.
Well done Word!

Seconded.
It's another superb portrait too.
I agree, except maybe we need a woman more often
given the last 16 months are chaps...( i am not counting Jan 2008 as its not a proper portrait) in fact the track record of female covers is not good..6.5 portraits since March 2003 or something like that. http://www.wordmagazine.co.uk/buy
I know we have had the "Who on the Cover" Thread but suggestions could be
Kate Bush (likely to be an old photo given current camera shyness), Cat Power, PJ Harvey, Tori Amos, Madelyn Peroux, Sandy Denny (has to be folk rock if its a folk singer), Bjork (again? Well others have been repeated), Aimee Mann, Carla Bruni (very credible super model tunred singer), Scarett Johansen (dont like the TW CD but she cross music/film), Natalie Merchant, Kathryn Williams, Kate Rusby (although I am no current fan), Kirsty McColl, Beth Gibbons + 100 more
Still the best mag in my postbox!
In terms of sales...
..I'd recommend putting Kate Bush on.
In terms of it just being the best front cover ever, I'd go for Sandy Denny or the wonderful Kathryn Williams. Perhaps the former if you wanted to sell to more than just the subscribers and Ms Williams' fanbase.
Lemmy?
Again, much kudos for doing that- the endless Beatles/Dylan/Stones front covers of certain other music magazines is very tedious indeed. This is way off-the-beaten-track and should only been applauded.
Back to facial hair
I, for one, was missing it. Not sure what that means though....
Aye
And a magnificent set of whiskers it is too!
However, where do you go after a set like that? There's not too much that can compete!
It will peak
with Roy Wood surely. And then they can stop.
What about Peaches?
Or wasn't that her own chin-warmer?
I missed F**k OFF Moles
Thank you Word
The Chart - best sequels
I agree up to a point about Frasier, but you can't say never gets boring. It started going downhill after Niles and Daphne tied the knot. Plus Anthony LaPaglia's playing of Daphne's brother was excruciatingly bad. She was supposed to be from Manchester yet he came along with a Dick van Dyke Cockernee accent.
This months CD query
Thought the Lemmy interview was Full Value, after all these years he still has something new to say. And the Fan Club article could run and run. (As Roger Taylor probably did.)
For a summer issue, when other periodicals feel decidedly thin, I am *very* impressed.
My query is with the CD - mine is like one of the flexidiscs that used to fall off the NME. It's not playable, though it does look like it's been halfway through the factory. Anyone else, or shall I start the Unlucky Alf impressions now?
Mine plays OK
But drop me an e-mail with your postal address, and I'll make sure you get a replacement.
Word Magazine = :o)
Fraser, many thanks. Greatly appreciated. And a reply within 60 minutes at this late hour!
Mine's
fine. Sorry.
So's mine
but I can't rip it until someone does the freedb update. I know I should but it's late and I'm tired.
Mine worked too and already ripped
and given to a mate...and to another mate....a cheap way to make friends and influence people!
It was brilliant getting home from work
last night to find Lemmy staring up at me from the doormat. I've always come back to Motorhead over the years and always forget what a great band they are (their last album was one of their best). So thanks Wordians for once again surprising and delighting me. I was worried after last month's Beatle cover.
I'm pleased for you all ...
here it's another week of checking the newsagents each day to see if the new issue is on the shelves. The only consolation is that it's still quicker than waiting for a subscription copy to cross the Irish Sea. Who said the world was a village?
