If you can imagine Modern Life Is Rubbish era London-centric vocals and wordsmithery but with fancy and clever late period 97 Coxonian guitar thrown in at the end you're halfway there. Bloody brilliant it is!

Mmmm

Fairly pedestrian in my opinion...

don't fear, sandamiano!

I agree with you and your assessment of the track. The song seems like a contemplative diary entry, if you listen to the lyrics. They should release one song a year from now on. Good stuff.

The melody does sound a wee bit like Cutting Crew.

I was very impressed - a nod back to Modern Life is Rubbish with a touch of 21st Century Albarn.

The only problem is it may be too catchy. Not many records go round in my head after only two listens and overly catchy songs can often wear out their appeal too quickly.

However, having pondered why the song had stuck in my head so quickly it suddenly dawned on me that the melody bears more than a passing resemblence to this 80s power ballad from the Cutting Crew...

Walker I knew there was a

Walker I knew there was a slowed down 'appropriation' of something else when I listened to it. It was nagging me, but you've nailed it! In truth, I'd rather listen to Cutting Crew this time around... very dull single, with Albarn trying too hard to be arty (and cockney).
