Never heard of this before, watched it on iplayer, LOVED it

Remote Control's picture

If you've got 90 odd minutes to kill and nothing to watch, if you enjoy American indie films and the likes of 'Before Sunrise/Sunset' and 'Clerks', I really recommend it -

'In Search Of A Midnight Kiss'

Indeed. Surprised by how

Indeed. Surprised by how much I enjoyed this. Had been a bit worried the film would be too 'hip' for my tastes, but need not have worried, it's charming.
Considering the amount of rom com dross that gets made, isn't it great to see a sweet, thoughtful, funny, intelligent film about a relationship, with believable characters? Shot in black and white, it looks beautiful as well - LA's lovely, sort of deserted and wintry, not how you imagine it.
A lot can be said for its brevity - at 90 minutes, its focused, most of the film is just the two leads' 'date' although there are some lovely cameos as well. I nearly cried for the 'second' guy who came to meet Vivian.
If Fraser's about, well worth including in the newsletter's iPlayer choice if there's nothing else kicking about come the middle of the week!

'iPlayer choice', yes!

Agree with your review; it's a rare romcom that feels the real deal so anything to spread the word.

top stuff

was worried when it first started that it going to be too "indie-schmidie" but that became a virute after a while. It's got a lot of heart and it's good to see normalish people on screen for a change with enough romance to keep things going (it is is a movie after all). Shame you never see the same sort of thing from uk films a bit more.

Thanks for posting

I proabably wouldn't have seen this film-agree with this:

It's a great feeling, isn't it, falling in love with a movie about falling in love? That's the case with In Search of a Midnight Kiss, an irresistible indie effort about two lonely souls hoping to find some modicum of contentment on the streets of Los Angeles. It's this year's version of 2 Days In Paris, a smart, perceptive, slightly cynical film which upends the traditional romantic comedy by marinating it in the realities of the modern world.

It's so true-the very fact that you can so easily turn off the iPlayer makes the feeling "it's late but I really want to see the end" all the more sweet in a way.
