Entertainment For Lively Minds
My first podcast
Posted by Curtis from Ohio on 29 April 2011 - 8:08pm.
I just listened to a Word podcast for the first time. It was the one with Mark Ellen talking to Nick Lowe. Really enjoyed it. I was laughing out loud at the story Nick told about Keith Richards, which led several people to stick their head in my office and look at me quizzically. It is a particulairly dull afternoon at work, which prompted me to seek out this new form of entertainment.
I'm listening to another one now. Can't say I can tell who is talking at any given time yet, I guess that will come with time. Anyone have a good episode or two to seek out in the back catalouge?

Tip top ones I can recall are:
Boo Hewerdine - (no 135)
Wilko Johnston - (no 144)
Danny Baker - (no 115)
but to be honest, they're all pretty damn good.
Two favourites that spring to mind
Yes, they're all good. But: as drakeygirl said, the Danny Baker one is very special. I also have a huge soft spot for the one from last December, where Mark Ellen's a bit pissed. I loved it so much I listened to it twice. I bumped into Fraser and told him this. He made a modest kind of "pah/tush" noise. It is a joy from start to finish.

Danny Baker
By far and away the best one ever.
Podcast 52
(I think) - Clare Grogan - a total joy.
Danny Baker

there's an early one which is a compilation
of the now departed HORA. For Ellen describing lunch with Chrissie Hynde alone, it's worth the price of entry, but the rest of it's darned good as well...
Somewhere within podcasts 1-3,
I'm pretty certain, are that Hoary Old Rock Anecdote and the one about the harmonica. Essential listening.
yup - the early 'casts had one HORA each...
but there is a compilation one...
As mentioned earlier
Danny Baker and Clare Grogan
Number 120
with Stoive Lamacq was excellent. Wish it was twice as long. That reminds me to seek out his book..
Good luck with that
I have been looking for a sensibly priced copy of 'Going Deaf For A Living' for a couple of years now.
My favourite..
Don't believe it has a number - but its the Piecast - with Stuart Marconie. One of the early ones.
The Danny Baker episode is also a classic - we need part 2 ASAP
Thanks
Thanks for the tips folks. Now that I've heard a few, I look forward to leaping in with wild abandon!
