My Bloody Valentine.

Mint's picture

Was browsing Amazon, and noticed that the My Bloody Valentine re-issues are advertised for an early Jan 2010 release. Have lost count of the times these have been re-scheduled, and wonder whether this will be another no show? Also wonder whether anyone cares anymore? Its all getting a bit tiresome

I had 'Isn't Anything'

on a scruffy cassette (House of Love's first LP on the other side) in 1988. I played them both to death & adored them. I tried MBV on Spotify recently, after a 20 year hiatus. I have to say they don't do anything for me anymore. A time and a place thing, for me.

they are waiting for their

fans to get their hearing back!!
Plug for concert

Seriously I think the whole things a little tedious, also the longer they wait the less point as they won't make much selling them. The way everything gone free nowadays. 5 years ago they would have been fine now won't most people go the Adman route and listen to the random outtakes and alternative takes on spotify?

God only knows when...

The re-issues were reviewed in the music press last year but never turned up in the shops. Last I heard, Kevin Shields wanted to "tweak the sleeve notes". Possibly getting monkeys to open 'em etc.

Apparently 'Loveless' was to be a two disc issue featuring two different mixes of the LP which were virtually indistinguishable from each other (or indeed the original CD issue) so I wasn't eagerly awaiting that one.

It would however be nice to have the 'You Made Me Realise' and 'Feed Me With Your Kiss' EPs available in some digital form (never came out on CD) and maybe some decent live stuff and out-takes. There was a box set on the cards for several years which got shelved.

That's before we get to the un-heard follow up to 'Loveless' which they were supposed to be finishing off having re-grouped for the live dates last year.

As Chris G points out, the longer they wait they less chance they have of making any money from such things.

Who knows. I never thought I'd seem them play live...and then I did..twice!

They did you know

I have CD singles of both You Made Me Realise and Feed Me With Your Kiss from the time...they replicate the 12" eps exactly...

mind you I wish they had said to wear earplugs at the Roundhouse, I think I might have (perversely) heard *more*....

I've had those bastard

cds on preorder for over a year now. To be honest, I don't think I can be arsed anymore, even if they turned up tomorrow...which they won't.

They're curating ATP at Christmas

and I shall be there.

I've been to ATP a few times and they're probably the 'biggest' band I'll ever see there, in terms of reach and influence.

Actually, that's not true. Patti Smith was that the time before last. She spits a lot.

never got to ATP

like the idea but the bill is never quite right the times we've been free to go. Didn't Sonic Youth curate it one time?

It's a great festival, Chris G.

My favourite, by miles.
