Must watch TV tonight!

MrSib's picture

The rather brilliant documentry (or if you will Rockumentry) Anvil: The story of Anvil is on BBC 4 tonight at 10.pm.

You'll laugh. You'll cry and you will band your head a little bit.

I'm Sorry But That's Underselling This film....

...amazing - especially when you've met similar bands with as much talent but not that killer know how for business!!!

Best music film ever

In my humble opinion. This is how most bands operate in the second division.

If you're not

rather upset by the end of this movie, you really have no heart.

That was fantastic...

so moving and as true a depiction of that level of the rock n' roll life as I'm ever likely to see.

Anvil - good people with heart.

Can I apologise for not seeing this film

earlier. I am so sorry everybody told me to , I just wouldn't listen. I've not only let The Word down,I've let the Massive down, I've let My school down, My Family down and most of all I've let myself down. I sorry it wouldn't happen again. \m/

Wonderful

I'd never heard of Anvil as a band but I remember the publicity over the film when it was first released.
As I watched last night, my initial reaction was that surely this is a spoof. As it moved into the European tour stage and the later recording section it was very clear that this was te real thing. Extremely moving.
Good luck to em!

The damage done

Just watched this last night, and felt pretty sobered by the cost exacted by our love of music, in terms of the mental health and well-being of those who feed it.

Best moment - when I exclaimed out loud with joy, as the size of the crowd in Japan was revealed.

The cheers, the tears

I watched "Anvil!" at the cinema when it came out; there was a collective groan of sympathy when we were shown the handful of people at an earlier gig, one that Lips and co had been so excited about. But there was - as you say - a huge exclamation of joy when the Japanese crowd was shown.

I found myself shouting "Hooray!" at the TV...

when the Japanese made their dreams come true (for one night only).

I ♥ Anvil.
